AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
AWS Data Processing and Experience group provides rapidly growing, industry acclaimed cloud services in areas of big data platforms to data analytics to operational databases. The group is at the forefront of innovation in these areas producing world-class cloud services such as Glue, EMR, Athena and many more.
The Team:
Data Processing is a fully managed service offering next-generation data integration features at massive scale. Data Processing simplifies and automates the difficult and time consuming data discovery, conversion, mapping, and job scheduling tasks and is fully serverless.
We are building the next generation serverless analytics platform, with a performant dataplane. We are scaling the backend infrastructure to enable super-low latencies for workloads at a massive scale like never seen before. The team owns both the product & backend and it's a unique experience.

Responsibilities:
Translate functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture, design and extensible codeTechnically lead a team of smart engineers on complex projectsBe an advocate of industry best-practices to produce reliable, fault-torrent and dependable codeCode and test complex system modules; develop and leverage frameworks to be effective and efficientParticipate in architecture, design and code reviews to maintain our high development standardsOwn system architecture, scalability, reliability, and performanceCollaborate and influence other teams to deliver and operate large scale, distributed services in the cloudMentor other engineers, defining our challenging technical culture, and helping to build a fast-growing team
On-Call Responsibility
This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don’t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experienceExperience programming with at least one software programming language
