$24.00 - $38.50Job SummaryResponsible for professional coding training to all coding staff. Ability to train the coding guidelines to the coding staff in a clear and concise manner so the end user can utilize the material in the guideline and have knowledge of that guideline to apply it to their everyday coding. Responsible for adherence to the coding related regulations and recognized coding guidelines as directed nationally or by payors. Works with leadership to organize, present and complete the training of new and/or existing coding staff. Provides feedback and assigned training duties to leadership for future development of the training team. Assist training leadership in creation of training manuals and materials/resources to assist in the training and education of coding staff.Extensive knowledge of diagnostic and procedural terminology, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT)-4, International Statistical Classification of Diseases (ICD)-10 and HCPCs coding. Responsible to accurately abstract diagnoses and treatments from documentation to support appropriate International Statistical Classification of Diseases (ICD)-10 and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT)/ Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) coding.Possess extensive knowledge of coding systems. Interpret and apply these laws, rules and regulations. Work in a team environment or independently depending on the assignment. Understanding of intermediary auditing related to Medicare and third party payors. Remain current in coding schemes and knowledge of perspective payment systems and clinical practices and technology. Computer skills and knowledge of information systems. Continue to demonstrate the ability to train, motivate and help staff become successful in their duties. Effectively train others to achieve maximum accuracy. Knowledge of health care finance, state and federal laws, rules and regulations.Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology to understand disease processes, treatment or management of medical or surgical conditions required. Work the Prior Authorization Dashboard, Price Quotes or other duties as assigned.QualificationsAssociate degree in Health Information Technology or Certification in Coding required. Must have extensive knowledge of diagnostic and procedural terminology, International Statistical Classification of Diseases (ICD)-9, International Statistical Classification of Diseases (ICD)-10, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT)-4 and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) coding schemes. Must have two years’ experience in coding for professional charges, as well as at least two years’ experience with Medicare and other third party reimbursement. Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician based (CCS-P), CCS Healthcare (CCS-H), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) required.Sanford is an EEO/AA Employer M/F/Disability/Vet.
