Senior Cloud Architect
and deliver support to the warfighting mission with cutting-edge cloud application migration and business process refinement for the US Army.This position is contingent upon contract award which is expected February 2025.This position is a hybrid position; however, candidate must be able to be on customer site at Fort Belvoir when needed so must be local to the Fort Belvoir, VA area. Relocation assistance may be provided.Designs, plans, and integrates cloud computing and virtualization systems. Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, cloud service provider selection, implementation techniques, application data migration techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Develops and conducts testing of cloud and virtualization systems. Maintains technical expertise relevant to industry standards and in cloud computing and virtualization technologies. Evaluates and reports on new cloud and virtualization technologies to enhance capabilities of cloud-based and virtualized services. May also provide systems engineering activities such as: Concept of Operations Formulation, Requirements Definition, Analysis and Engineering, System Architecting, System Analysis and Design, Interface and Data Architectures, Validation and Verification, System Integration, System Op. Performance Analysis, Lifecycle Cost Analysis Estimation, Decision Analysis, and Physical Configuration Analysis (PCA). Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY:
Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. Participates with senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives. Recommends/makes decisions on administrative or project work matters and ensures effective achievement of program, project, or organizational objectives.PROBLEM COMPLEXITY:
Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions, which are highly innovative and ingenious.FREEDOM TO ACT:
Works under consultative direction toward pre-determined long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated. Determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.IMPACT:
Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve critical organizational objectives and affect the image of the organization's technological capability.LIASON:
Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs. Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:BS degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Physics, or MathematicsFifteen years of combined computer/network architecture experience and five years within the past eight years of experience in Cloud Architecture is acceptable in lieu of a degree10 years technical and/or management experience on US Army or DoD programs and projects that provided expert software O&M of Army enterprise systems5 years technical and/or management experience supporting industry and/or Government Sector cloud initiatives at an enterprise level1 year, within the past 3 years of experience defining organizational project cloud migration objectives and requirements3 years, within the past 5 years of experience with CSPs (AWS or Azure) in cloud-based disaster recovery (DR) and multi-region / multi-availability zone (AZ) high availability (HA)CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:Must have a Secret clearanceCERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:Must have a CISSP or CCSP Certification
