The mission of the team is to accelerate the development of advanced applications and innovative additive manufacturing solutions. We pull from technology, software, materials, and service to offer unmatched solutions to our customers.As a Staff Application Development Engineer, you will be responsible for interfacing with customers to help facilitate the application development of products as regulated by the ISO 13485, ISO 9001, AS9100 and global requirements such as FDA, FAA, QSR, and MDD. In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of manufacturing processes and quality systems in accordance with internal guidelines as well as customer driven requirements.In this job, you will not only cooperate with your manufacturing, quality, and application engineering colleagues worldwide, but you can also rely on the knowledge and experience of colleagues from other 3D Systems divisions. You will also be a central point of contact for customer projects (make or buy) assigned to you within the organization. You engage in new application development projects from the start where your technical knowledge and expertise are essential for their success. You are a steward of the project, along with your project team, through the application development lifecycle. Using a project management approach, you define and deliver your projects on time and within budget. You will also have the opportunity to lead or mentor other engineers to expand their skillset and elevate the team’s capabilities on a whole.What You Will DoThe following performance objectives will determine job success for this position:Remain current and proficient with US and international medical device, semiconductor and aerospace/defense regulations.Execute product realization and project management processes to deliver innovation quickly and with excellent quality.Understand and use design controls and product development processes to ensure compliance and develop thorough, high quality, robust products and processes.Support sales meetings from a technical point of view and support trade shows.Develop, document, and maintain product development and design transfer procedures.Manage individual portfolio of active and pipeline development projects.Participate in customer project meetings and lead efforts to translate and understand part, project, and validation/certification requirements.Collaborate cross-functionally with quality engineers, manufacturing engineers, and customer engineering teams to deliver the optimal solution to the customerFollowing internal procedures for product development, collaborate with project teams in the development of new applications through to design transfer or technical transfer to internal or external customers.Develop documentation for the manufacture of product using industry standards and best practices. Ensure all documentation is implemented via the formal document control system.Participate in the transfer of new projects into Manufacturing. Follow developed processes and projects through design transfer and into the first year of volume production.Report progress and status of projects along with PMO on a timely basis with emphasis on reporting results to the Application Development Engineering Manager of Application Innovation Group (AIG).This document represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions. It should be understood, therefore, that incumbents may be asked to perform job-related duties beyond those explicitly described.QualificationsWhat You will BringBachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field required.Seasoned professional with a comprehensive background and proven track record required in regulated, cGMP environment such as medical device, aerospace, defense, and semiconductor.Substantial and well-established experience in Additive Manufacturing, specifically Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF), or similar technologies, is required.Extensive track record preparing L-PBF builds, running simulations, and working on metal additively manufactured components to produce end-use parts that meet customer requirements and timelines required.Quality assurance and reliability experience supporting product development and/or manufacturing are preferred.Experience in a highly regulated environment such as aerospace (AS9100) or medical device (ISO 13485) is a plus.Ability to read, interpret, and design engineering specifications across a number of products and materials.Ability to analyze and develop engineering processes for use in advanced technology implementations.This position serves the Application Innovation Group, which includes the need to work on export controlled products from aerospace and defense customers.A strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.Professional demeanor with excellent communication skills.Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.The 3D Systems Advantage!Salary Range: $123,000 - $135,000 annually (salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate, and alignment with market data)In addition to a salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based upon company performance.3D Systems offers a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental and vision coverage, company-paid short-term and long-term disability insurance, and company-paid basic life insurance.
