Project Field Engineer
passionate about commercial construction, valuing quality and integrity, and understanding the importance of collaboration and process governance. The ideal candidate enjoys diving deep into business processes and thrives in a dynamic, project-driven environment. Based locally in Shakopee, MN, this role manages commercial construction projects that emphasize quality, adherence to schedule, and a commitment to safety.
Major expectations & accountabilities
Partner with the Project Superintendent on day-to-day field operations, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule objectives are met.
Understand project scope, budget, and subcontractor scopes of work to manage project completion within budget.
Use management tools like timecards, daily reports, safety inspections, quality control logs, and project schedules.
Coordinate efforts of all involved parties, including contractors, subcontractors, and labor, ensuring compliance with project plans, standards, and contract requirements.
Develop and communicate 2-week look-aheads.
Observe, report, and make recommendations on field inconsistencies to the Project Superintendent.
Attend, contribute to, and lead or document pre-install, owner, and weekly foremen meetings.
Assist with project inspections and obtaining occupancy approvals.
Document and distribute any project changes impacting schedule, design, scope, or cost.
Support project closeout and punch list processes.
Perform additional tasks as requested by management.
What you’ll need to be successful
1-3 years of construction experience or a college internship with a general contractor, ideally in commercial construction.
Ability to supervise construction crews ranging from 10 to 50 personnel.
Strong relationship-building skills with both internal and external customers.
Proficiency in verbal, written, and presentation skills.
High motivation, integrity, and commitment to the team and customers.
Strong work ethic, decisiveness, ambition, and commitment to quality work.
Willingness to travel locally within the Shakopee, MN area to manage projects.
Qualifications that can set you apart
Preferred: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Construction Trades.
Preferred: OSHA 30 and first aid certification.
Required: OSHA 10 certification.
Ability to read and interpret basic plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
Familiarity with building codes.
Proficiency with business software, including Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
