Lumos is looking for a full-time OSP Project Engineer! If you are an OSP Project Engineer who’s excited for a fast-paced experience, ready to help us grow, and ready to recommend process changes that ensure we’re harnessing our technology to the best of our ability while broadening our scope planning and preparing drawings for construction of new, overhead or underground lines, cables, and conduits to obtain optimum and economical utilization of communications facilities. The Project Engineer also is responsible for selecting the most cost beneficial route for all lines and equipment for work projects. Prepares detailed construction and installation drawings, provides estimates of labor and material costs. This engineer is also responsible for developing plans for local ring architecture, L2 and transport.Virtual Position:

We’ll never stop reinventing ourselves to meet our customers’ evolving needs - because we know that our work, delivering 100% fiber optic internet, truly changes people’s lives.Essential FunctionsFiber cable field design, cost estimating, splicing sequences, and planning and design loss calculations.CAD and manual mapping/drafting, ICMS records updates and research, Permits and ISP designs.Estimating, cost studies, customer contacts, and negotiating land acquisitions for easements.Working knowledge of all aspects of company processes including but not limited to:OSP construction;Site preparation and permitting;OSP testing and acceptance standards;Creating design for local L2 and Transport architecture.Google Earth and various fiber mapping platforms.Project process, budget forecast, tracking, and reporting.Establish and maintain OSP work schedules in alignment with the projects requirements.Timely reporting of project status and jeopardies.Project status reviews and escalation to prevent date slippage.Provide real time direction to support personnel (internal & external) to ensure project timelines and contractual commitments are met.Communication and escalation of any contractual, technical or scheduling requirements that are in jeopardy.Internal escalation to management for any sensitive issues that could cause customer dissatisfaction or relationship issues.Review all permits, rights of way, easements and negotiations needed for project completion.Diligent tracking and follow up of all issues and actions encountered by colleagues and vendors.Integrate innovations into the design and engineering practices and work.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesEducation:High School Diploma or equivalent.Associate’s Degree preferred.Experience:4+ years’ experience in telecommunications construction (OSP / ISP).Must be able to multi-task, must have good mathematical aptitude, must be able to manage multiple projects and to manage multiple job budgets, and must have a can-do attitude and attention to detail along with strong analytical skills.Our commitment to communities includes recruiting and rewarding the Lumos team members who are working together to build a brighter tomorrow.We have:Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage.Competitive compensation packages, including bonus options for eligible positions.Paid Time Off and 12 Paid Holidays / Personal Days.Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).100% employer-paid life and disability insurance.Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with access to professional support for life’s challenges.401K plan w/ up to 5% employer contribution and a self-directed brokerage option.Wellness program offering education and cash incentives for gym attendance and nutrition programs.Discounts on Lumos Fiber Internet for employees who live in our service areas.At Lumos we recruit, hire, employ, train, promote, and compensate individuals based on job-related qualifications and abilities.
