Job PurposeNetwork Engineer
is responsible for ensuring stable operation of the P3’s technology communication networks. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links across a multi-state environment. This person will function as part of the infrastructure support team and provide expertise in technology communications for a hybrid infrastructure consisting of Azure Cloud and on-premise support.This person will support day to day operations of multiple communication systems including firewalls, network switches, routers, internet connections, VPNs, etc. Will also provide support for new applications, implementations, upgrades and patching to existing systems, analyzes system problems, use knowledge and creativity to provide solutions, create documentation, and support P3’s primary mission.This position will assist the Information Security team with security reviews and audits that align with internal and external auditing entities. Work with other Information Technology teams to ensure optimization and stable operation of all P3 systems and applications. Collaborate and liaison with business areas to provide support, documentation, and training when appropriate.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesPerform network design and capacity planning.Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.Installs and maintains network device configurations; ensures that backup copies of all files are routinely made and securely stored at separate location; maintains system documentation.Provides onsite support and implementations for networking and related equipment, as required.Provides second level technical support to users concerning network system operations.Diagnoses problems with network equipment and performs equipment repair or upgrades when appropriate.Installs, configures, maintains, and patches networking equipment such as routers, switches, and UPS.Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network connected end-user hardware, software, and peripheral devicesManage security solutions, including firewall, VPNs, intrusion detection systems (IDS), intrusion prevention systems (IPS).Plans, implements, and documents network topologyEnsures HITRUST and other compliance regarding systems support and separation of dutiesAssists end users with system issues, requests submissions and other issues related system administration and supportWorks with the Information Security officer and team to address security issues, audit requests, and information gathering for incidents and investigationsParticipate in month and quarterly access reviews across multiple systems and applications.Creates and maintains procedures as it relates to P3’s network communicationsProvides on-site guidance and instructions to other IS teams.Provides key metrics and reporting.Documents and reports on system optimization and usability.Maintains confidentiality regarding information being processed, stored, or accessed by the system.Provides training to customers as needed.Works with security and implementation departments to ensure that the system is compliant with all organizational standards and audits.Education and Experience:RequiredBachelor’s or advanced degree in healthcare, computer science, or business, or equivalent work experienceMinimum of 5 years of network administration experienceMinimum of 3 years of firewall experienceMinimum of 3 years network security experience including VPNsMinimum of 3 years knowledge of network and routing protocolsStrong verbal and written communication skills are requiredAbility to travelDesiredExperience and knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud networkingExperience and knowledge of healthcare related supportExperience with IT infrastructure concepts, virtualization, Active Directory, etc.Experience with Microsoft platformKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of Cisco Networking (routers and switches)Knowledge of SonicWall and/or Fortinet FirewallsKnowledge of IPS/IDSKnowledge of core Microsoft business applications, Word, Excel, Visio, etc.Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to provide product documentation and trainingAbility to identify and troubleshoot potential issues and participate in their resolution with highest customer satisfactionAbility to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the group growth and expansionAbility to communicate technical issues to non-technical end usersWork independently as well as in a group settingAbility to multi-task
