Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Network Engineer – Network DevOps Engineer SME (24-282) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations and manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives.
The candidate will serve as a Network and Enterprise Services (NES) DevOps Engineering SME responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the CI/CD Pipeline with tools like GitLab and Nexus and developing and utilizing automation tools.
Essential Functions:
Apply principles, theories, and concepts in their field and provide solutions to various complex problems with imaginative and thorough solutions.
Work without appreciable direction, and results are reviewed for desired results.
Function as the ARTs Subject Matter Expert and lead of the CI/CD Pipeline, Automation, Software Defined Networking, and any other DevOps/NetOps related items.
Represent the organization with program leadership and the customer on significant technical matters on contracts.
Frequent internal and external customer contacts and represents the organization in providing solutions to complex technical issues associated with specific projects.
Responsible for
GitLab , assuring proper documentation, training, and reporting are completed.
Responsible for executing
configuration management
utilizing existing program tools, which include documentation, training, and reporting.
Work to improve the release processes utilized by the ART.
Develop, deploy, and maintain a CI/CD pipeline for the NES ART.
Create, maintain, and present KPIs and other metrics related to the CI/CD Pipeline and other configuration management areas.
Building, training, and maintaining automation scripts that replace manual processes/configurations used by C2BMC.
Must be an effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills using Microsoft Office products, especially PowerPoint and Visio.
Detail-oriented and can follow processes.
Experience as a DevOps Engineer.
Basic Qualifications:
An active Secret clearance is required to start with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
9 years' experience with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field; 7 years' experience with a master’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field; or 13 years' experience in lieu of a degree.
Must possess a DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA).
Establishing and following processes throughout project life cycles to maintain consistent configuration control, developing, operating, and maintaining
GitLab
database and other process management tools.
Create and maintain a Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (Preferably GitLab CI/CD) and
GitLab and GitLab concepts
such as branching, merging, etc.
Maintain a
Hardware Configuration Management
Plan, maintaining configuration item(s), change control, status accounting, and audit verification.
Managing large data repositories of documents and folder structure.
Ansible (Preferably Ansible Automation Platform) experience and knowledge are required.
Containerization Binary & Artifact Management (Preferably Nexus).
Utilizing tools such as
Redhat, Ansible, Powershell, Bash, and Python
to generate automated solutions to gather device metrics, configurations, and other needs.
Working in Jira and Confluence.
Knowledge of basic Network Engineering.
Experience creating and updating processes and procedures.
Developing KPIs, tracking other metrics, and creating reports.
Experience with containers, binary & artifact management, and
RHEL .
Preferred Qualifications:
Current and active Top Secret clearance is highly desired.
Experience in a DoD environment.
Prior C2BMC experience.
Must be able to travel to alternate work locations.
