Staff Platform EngineerREMOTEAbout the Role:We are searching for a Staff Platform Engineer specializing in Infrastructure to join our team. As a key member, you'll lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our cloud infrastructure. If you have a passion for guiding organizations toward a fully modernized infrastructure (IaC, CI/CD, and DevOps) utilizing advanced HashiCorp tools like Terraform, Nomad, Consul, and Vault, as well as GitOps, this is the role for you. Your pivotal contributions will ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our systems while spearheading automation and continuous improvement initiatives.Responsibilities:Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, and upkeep AWS infrastructure using HashiCorp tools like Terraform, Nomad, Consul, and Vault.AWS Architecture: Contribute to the architecture of scalable, reliable, and cost-optimized solutions within AWS.Configuration Management: Utilize configuration management tools for consistent infrastructure management.Agile Scrum Practice: Employ Agile Scrum methodologies within a Jira environment for efficient project management.CI/CD & Source Control: Manage CI/CD pipelines and source code repositories using GitHub Actions and GitHub.Implement Datadog Monitoring Solutions: Deploy and manage Datadog monitoring solutions to ensure comprehensive system visibility, including integrations with other tools for enhanced monitoring capabilities.Scripting and Automation: Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline infrastructure processes.Documentation, Training, and Mentorship: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for infrastructure and automation processes. Provide hands-on training and ongoing mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and ensuring knowledge transfer across the team.Technical Leadership: Lead technical initiatives, both for familiar and unfamiliar solutions.Continuous Improvement: Evaluate existing processes and infrastructure for optimization, driving improvements to enhance performance and scalability.Technologies:Cloud Infrastructure: AWSInfrastructure Management Tools: Terraform, Nomad, Consul, VaultConfiguration Management: SaltSupport Applications: Jira, Slack, Google WorkspacesApplication Architecture: Nomad, Vector, LogScaleCI/CD & Source Control: GitHub Actions, GitHubMonitoring Solutions: DatadogScripting and Automation: Python, ShellOther AWS Services: EC2, Lambda, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, Security HubRequired Knowledge & Skills:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent work experience.10+ years of total relevant experience, including 5+ years of experience with AWS infrastructure management and automation.In-depth knowledge of AWS services and architecture, including but not limited to EC2, Lambda, VPC, Transit Gateway, IAM, S3, and RDS.Hands-on experience with HashiCorp tools, particularly Terraform, Nomad, Consul, and Vault, for infrastructure management and automation.Familiarity with monitoring and logging solutions such as Datadog.Experience with Docker and Container based architectures.Strong scripting and automation skills, with expertise in Python and preferably Shell or similar languages.Solid understanding of networking concepts and security best practices in cloud environments.Additional Skills and Qualifications:Experience with incident response, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting in complex distributed systems.Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Demonstrated capacity to manage workload independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines without supervision.Ability to learn new products and solutions and champion their adoption.Microsoft Azure Experience.Experience in the Network Security / Log Analysis Industry (Vector, LogScale).Experience running a Cloud Center of Excellence, and AWS Security Services (Inspector / Security Hub / Guard Duty).Familiarity with open source network security tools (Suricata, Zeek, Stenographer).Who we are:At Pondurance, we embrace, educate, and protect people by helping make our world a better and safer place.
