IT Lead Test Engineer, Performance (Hybrid)

This is a hybrid role. The first three months are full-time in the office.

Our TeamThis position requires technical experience, problem-solving skills, and leadership to help advance and mature Enterprise Performance Engineering practice in the Quality Engineering area. System resiliency and high-performing systems and applications are critical to our business and customers. Incumbent will be responsible for leading and driving a team of Performance Test Engineers, Test approaches, processes, frameworks, tools for Quality & Testing Center of Excellence and manage overall delivery of Performance Test Executions.

Essential Functions:

Champion Performance Test Engineering as a practice at Eversource which involves driving consistent usage of Performance Test strategy, Plan and Performance Test execution across the Enterprise.

Partner with Quality Engineering and relevant IT leadership to develop, deploy and advocate Testing standards, processes, frameworks, and best practices.

Manage all active and upcoming projects in the pipeline with relevant stakeholders in IT to drive Non-functional requirement workshops, assess performance testing needs along with environment and data needs and make appropriate recommendations.

Closely partner with Enterprise Monitoring Team to ensure implementation of relevant monitoring tools and processes.

Lead and manage Performance Testing Resources (onsite and offshore Managed Testing Services) which involves the following:

Review and approval of Test Estimation – Effort, Resource compositions and spend.

Ensure Financial discipline to stay within defined scope and cost.

Drive priority

Ensure Operational discipline such as delivery of Performance Test Strategy, Performance Test Plans, Test Scripts, Workload Models, Test Executions, and overall priority and schedule.

Drive NFR workshops and discussions as required. Work with team to analyze data from various sources including network traffic, server logs, application logs, and security logs.

Drive best practices such as development of reusable and scalable solutions.

Review and sign off on Test Results.

Maintain library of Performance Test Assets and baseline report across relevant applications.

Document results and lessons learnt to create knowledge bases for future use.

Drive Storm Performance Test of Storm Ecosystem and other critical applications.

Monitor system performance and make recommendations for improvement.

Evaluate current and future Test infrastructure & hardware needs, manage license needs (current and future) and spend.

Onboarding, Extension and offboarding of resources.

Analyze existing performance testing process and gaps, resources and skillsets and engage in continuous improvement of existing standards and processes.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

Demonstrated experience with the following:

Microfocus Performance Center (LRE), Tricentis Neo Load and relevant open source tools such as JMeter to relevant lightweight tools a must.

Experience with Test Management Tools (qTest, ALM, TestRails), broad array of DevOps Tools (AzureDevOps, JIRA, Jenkins, Bamboo, GitHub, Ansible).

Experience managing a large infrastructure both on-prem and Azure Cloud (preferable).

Relevant experience with Cloud (AWS or Azure), Containers, and Service Virtualization.

Basic knowledge of Linux, Unix.

Experience with CI/CD tools and implementations.

Experience with APM tools such as Splunk, AppDynamic, Dynatrace, New Relic and monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus etc.

Experience with Test Automation a plus.

Firm knowledge of standards and best practices supporting a variety of applications with varying degrees of complexities – SaaS Solutions, API, UI, Citrix, TruClient, WebMethods.

Solid understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle and Software Testing methodologies.

Experience working in an Agile setup, shifting performance tests earlier and continuous testing.

Experience with Test Data and Test Environment management.

Experience driving Testing Methodologies, Testing standards, governance, and best practices.

Prior experience with SAP (Customer Information System) preferred.

Industry recognized QA and/or testing certification is a plus.

Problem Solver, Team Player, and a leader.

Utility Space experience a plus.

Works well under pressure as the role requires juggling multiple priorities and parallel initiatives.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in STEM Program from an accredited College/University or equivalent experience.

Experience:

A minimum of 8-10 years of leading design and implementation of performance test frameworks, setting up standards and processes and leading small to large onsite & offshore teams.

Licenses & Certifications:

Certification in LRE and/or related Tools and Technologies.

Working Conditions:

Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.

Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

Compensation and Benefits:

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is 127,080.00 to $141,200.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of our benefits.
