Expedition Leaders are responsible for leading extended trips including (but not limited to) hiking, backpacking, caving, rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, and mountaineering. Responsibilities include:Driving University vehicles and trailersTeaching technical skillsFacilitating positive group developmentManaging risksSupervising meal preparationCommunicating effectively with co-leadersPlanning and preparation for trips, including developing a trip itinerary, menu planning/food prep, requesting/packing equipment, communicating with participants, and completing all paperworkCompleting post-trip tasks including proper cleanup and return of all equipment, post-trip reports, and giving and receiving peer feedbackMust successfully complete the 10-day Outdoor Leadership Training Course and maintain a valid Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR (or higher) certification. Documented outdoor/adventure leadership experience in the form of an experience log is required, along with the skills, knowledge, and experience to lead trips in at least one activity.This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.Campus Recreation is a department within Student Affairs that provides fitness, wellness, and recreational programs to the campus community.CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS:Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
