Lead Electrical and Instrumentation Controls Technician

will be the SME for E&I techs and handle routine and emergency maintenance of the facility's industrial electrical and control systems and equipment. As part of a small team, they will work safely to maintain, diagnose, and repair all types of power plant equipment, including maintenance related to boilers and its associated electrical and control equipment, repair and operation of field controllers, instrumentation, motor control centers and other power plant electrical equipment ranging from 120V to 13.8kV, and AC switchgear.This position is located in Lorton, VA.This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus!Position Requirements:Perform maintenance and testing of medium and high voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, motor starters, and power transformers and other higher voltage switchyard equipment and steam turbine driven generators.Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy from waste boilers and its associated equipment, including but not limited to, fans, motors, & refuse cranes.Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy from waste air pollution control systems, crane control systems.Be the go-to SME for E&I Techs.Troubleshoot, assess, inspect, adjust, and make repairs as needed to the Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) as well as all facility flow, pressure, temperature, and level instrumentation.Troubleshoot, assess, inspect, adjust, and make repairs as needed to the Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and historian devices.Perform preventative maintenance tasks including routine calibration, thermography, and ultrasonic testing.Operate various calibration equipment and perform electrical and instrumentation maintenance and repair work as assigned using proper safety practices.Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation problems and complete all maintenance work records.Actively participate in plant shutdown work including teardown inspection of electrical plant equipment.Maintain work area and tools in clean and orderly manner as well as performing plant and shop housekeeping chores.Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the E&I management team.Shift:During training (4-8 weeks) schedule will be Monday- Friday 6:00 am -2:30 pm.After the training period this position will be an 8 or 10-hour day shift position and rotating on-call for evenings and weekends as needed.Outages will increase the need to be on site, so there is lots of opportunity for overtime.Requirements:High school diploma (or GED) and formal technical, military or apprentice training required.A minimum of five years of experience as an Electrical and/or Industrial Controls Technician in a power plant or a similar field, leadership for 3 years.Strong working knowledge of 120V to 13.8kV, AC switchgear and 440KW power is required.The ability to work from layout plans and schematics for electrical equipment installation or troubleshooting work is required.A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in the understanding & repair of PLCs, DCS, Allen Bradley/Baily systems, VFDs and Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMs) and can display proper use of calibration & testing equipment is necessary.Physical DemandsFrequently exposed to high temperatures and outside weather conditions.Working near moving machinery as well as noisy and dusty environments; must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).Climbing ladders and structures; must be able to tolerate heights.Frequently required to stand, sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach.
