Here's why we need you:

The Director of Business Development is the office's leader for activities that create and maintain local and regional relationships to achieve office growth and expanded local and regional market presence. Operating within a matrix organizational structure, this position requires adept collaboration with various teamsincluding principals, market leaders, marketing staff, and project managers of the assigned officeto generate and track qualified project leads, develop collateral material, and project proposals, and support staff in preparing for project interviews.

The Director of Business Development is responsible for authoring their office business development plans and ensuring that relevant office staff are informed of the contents of the company business development plan, including relevant new business and revenue targets.

The Director of Business Development is responsible for maintaining constructive engagement with their peer business development directors, marketing professionals and the National Director of Marketing. This position reports to the Principal/Shareholder in our Denver office.

Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities

The following job functions are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Develop and implement a strategic business development plan aligned with the company's strategic objectives, focusing on expanding visibility and market share. Lead the identification of new business opportunities, market trends, and client needs through market research, industry analysis, and client engagement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop customized qualifications and proposals that meet client requirements and address market demands. Build and maintain strong relationships with co-workers, immediate supervisors, various department leaders and principals. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders to drive new business opportunities, enhance client satisfaction and foster long-term partnerships. Lead or support the pursuit of chases of significance, and support negotiation and tracking of national MSAs, IDIQ contracts for planning, design, and commissioning projects. Advance system-wide business development perspective through collaboration, information sharing and joint development of specific project pursuits. Provide leadership and guidance to the marketing team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators and market trends to assess performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous improvement. Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance brand visibility, establish thought leadership, and expand the company's network. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business administration, or related field. Extensive experience in business development or consulting engineering. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across offices and levels of the organization. Strategic thinker with exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of translating market insights into actionable business strategies. Demonstrated experience in leading high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Proficiency in marketing tools and technologies. e.g. Microsoft Office products (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), Deltek Vision (client relationship management) and OpenAsset (content management system) databases. Preferred Qualification

Advanced degree in engineering or business/business administration. Strong understanding of consulting engineering industry, including regional market dynamics, trends, and client. Other Knowledge and Skills Desired

Demonstrated commitment to networked professional societies. e.g., IDEA, Big Ten & Friends, DBIA, I2SL, ASHE, ULI Passion for continuous learning and rapid absorption of information of the firm's markets and services and their ultimate value to the client/partner. Polished presentation skills. Ability to listen and extract key client needs which informs development or selection of language and imagery to be included in proposals and presentations. Ability to quickly build rapport, establish relationships and gain the trust and confidence of management, peers and technical staff. Competencies

This position reports weekly to one of AEI's offices. Willingness to travel as needed to engage with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders. Physical Requirements

Willingness to work to meet deadlines. Working at a computer for several hours at a time. Meeting with clients and prospective clients during both business hours and after hours: luncheon and dinner engagements, and other appropriate social activities. Ability to lift to 30 pounds. Estimated Starting Salary Range: $90,000 to $170,000
