Mid Atlantic Arts is excited to welcome an enthusiastic and experienced Director, People and Culture to join our organization. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this role plays a critical role in fostering an inclusive, engaged, and value-driven organizational culture. As the organization’s sole HR professional, this position combines strategic leadership with hands-on HR management in areas like talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and compliance. The Director serves as a cultural steward, leading initiatives that reinforce the mission, strengthen employee connections, and ensure a supportive work environment. What We Offer: Full-Time Position: You'll be an integral part of our team, reporting directly to the Executive Director. Competitive Salary: The salary range for this position is $95,000-$105,000 commensurate with experience. The region includes New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, District of Columbia, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. While we welcome talent from the Mid-Atlantic area, we prefer candidates in the vibrant Baltimore/DC area. Champion organizational values, embedding them in HR processes and decision-making. Lead diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) initiatives to foster a sense of belonging. Develop employee engagement programs, including wellness initiatives, social events, and recognition systems. Facilitate employee feedback through surveys and sessions, using insights to enhance the employee experience.
Strategic HR Leadership
Collaborate with senior leadership to align HR strategies with organizational goals, ensuring culture remains central. Serve as a trusted advisor on talent development, workforce planning, and organizational change. Lead initiatives that enhance workplace culture and support organizational growth.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
Oversee the recruitment process, ensuring alignment with organizational culture and values. Design and manage a comprehensive onboarding experience to foster early engagement and long-term success.
Employee Relations & Performance Development
Address employee relations issues, providing guidance and conflict resolution aligned with organizational values. Implement performance management processes that focus on continuous feedback and professional growth. Identify and develop talent, creating pathways for career advancement.
Policy Development & Compliance
Develop and maintain HR policies that ensure legal compliance and promote inclusivity and employee well-being. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local labor laws, updating policies as needed.
Compensation & Benefits
Manage compensation and benefits administration, ensuring competitiveness and alignment with organizational culture. Research and recommend structures that support work-life balance and employee well-being.
HR Data & Reporting
Utilize HR data to provide insights on key cultural metrics like retention, engagement, and diversity. Leverage analytics to drive improvements in employee experience and organizational culture.
Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A master's degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is preferred. Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience, including 3 years in a leadership role with a focus on employee experience, workplace culture, and talent management. Must have experience working in a hybrid/remote environment with a multi-state workforce. Physical Requirements This role requires the ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, photocopiers, and scanners. It may involve occasional standing or walking for long periods, as well as lifting up to 20 pounds. Work Environment This is a hybrid/remote position, allowing flexibility in where work is performed. The role requires a dependable internet connection and the ability to engage in virtual meetings and collaboration using video conferencing tools. Minimal travel, typically less than 10%, may be required for key meetings or company events.
