Job Summary:
This position will be for the Cancer Center Courage Clinic- A dedicated ambulatory oncology nurse is needed to provide exceptional care for lung cancer patients in a supportive clinic environment. Responsibilities include care coordination, patient education, and triage. This role allows for meaningful contributions to the well-being of patients navigating their cancer journey.
The Staff RN - Ambulatory Services works collaboratively as an active member of the interprofessional team to provide therapeutic patient and family centered care. The Staff RN - Ambulatory Services systematically and continuously collects and assesses data related to patient health status to develop, execute and evaluate the plan of care. The Staff RN - Ambulatory Services utilizes evidence to drive clinical decisions and practice related to individual and population health. The Staff RN - Ambulatory Services establishes goals and strategies for meeting care coordination needs across settings with the patient, family, and/or other care providers. The Staff RN - Ambulatory Services considers factors related to safety, effectiveness and fiscal accountability in planning and delivering care. The Staff RN - Ambulatory Services delegates and supervises care in accordance with the WI Nurse Practice. The Staff RN - Ambulatory Services participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives and assumes responsibility for their professional development. Major responsibilities of this role will include one or more of the following:o Perform/direct ACLSo Independent rhythm interpretation and defibrillationo Administration of advanced lifesaving medicationso Independent, templated ("RN-only") visits for patient assessment, with action taken based on established protocols and/or clinical practice standards using clinical judgement to determine intervention timing/specifics.o Specialty patient education where certification/additional certificate is required for role (listed in job requirements) o Sedation o Telemetry monitoring & interpretation/management of rhythm changeso Assisting with complex procedures - (RN doing care / work on patient, or RN has role in treatment / procedure, etc.)o Advanced wound therapy (VACs, debridement, etc.) o Central line management (TPA administration) and maintenance (dressing / cap changes, access / flushing)o Device interrogation and interpretation with resultant action o Complex infusions (concurrent infusions, hazardous medication administration, blood and blood products, etc.) Work may also include patient care coordination, direct patient care, patient education, telephone triage/eVisits, and performing/assisting with minor procedures. May float to other areas on as needed for operations need. Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
Clinical experience and/or interest in the care and management of patient populations specific to the area of employment. At least 1 year of relevant nursing experience, preferred.
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:
Nursing licensure required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred.
TRAINING DESCRIPTION:
Oncology: RNs must have/attain an oncology nursing certification or complete 12 hours oncology-focused CE education/year on an ongoing basis.
LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:
Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are required within 90 days of hire.
