Description

The Director of Development is responsible for leading the implementation and execution of the organization's foundation strategies and overseeing the development efforts to secure private, corporate, and foundation giving. The Director will work collectively with the Director of Communications to build content for a comprehensive case for support. This role focuses on the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts, annual giving, corporate and foundation giving, and database/stewardship efforts. The position will report directly to the CEO and be a key member of the leadership team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

:

MAJOR GIFTS:

Secure major gifts with an emphasis on developing future major donors by identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding private support from individuals.Build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, evolving it steadily as prospects and support are brought to closure.Data mine historical giving patterns in the Salesforce database to reengage donors and identify potential major donors.Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to identify and solicit major gifts from board members and their networks.ANNUAL GIVING:

Develop and execute an annual giving program, starting with historical donors from the current database.Lead the implementation and execution of annual giving strategies, including direct mail and electronic solicitation campaigns.Oversee the management and strategic growth of the annual giving program to ensure consistent revenue generation.FOUNDATION/CORPORATE GIVING :

Pursue and identify qualifications, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship opportunities with foundations and corporations for financial support.Lead the implementation and execution of corporate fundraising strategies, organizing plans to secure funds from foundations and corporations.Use historical giving data and work with external consultants to identify opportunities for foundation and corporate giving.DATABASE/STEWARDSHIP

Maximize the historical donor database (Salesforce) by developing and recommending key performance indicators to measure and monitor all philanthropic activities.Steward donors through ongoing communication, recognition activities, and interactions with beneficiaries of their support.Write, edit, and assemble letters of inquiry, proposals, stewardship reports, thank you letters, and other supporting documentation for foundations and corporate donors.Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.Minimum FIVE years of non-profit fundraising preferred.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Experience with CRM/Philanthropic database management. Experience with Salesforce is preferred.Proven track record of management major and annual giving programs; securing significant gifts; and building relationships with donors.WORK ENVIRONNMENT

:

This position may require occasional travel to meet with foundation and corporate representatives and attend fundraising events. Some evening and weekend hours may be required depending on events and deadlines.
