REPORTS TO: Facilities Director, Principal, or Designee
JOB GOAL: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean.Raises the United States flag before each school day, and lowers it after each school day.Sweeps, spot mops and/or vacuum classrooms daily.Cleans corridors, including the removal of cobwebs, after school each day, and during the day when their condition requires it.Scrubs and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures, classroom sinks and drinking fountains daily.Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least once each year, and more frequently if necessary.Does general cleansing of the boiler room, custodial closets and performs a daily check of the furnace, especially in the winter months.Cleans and maintains all custodial equipment daily.Keeps the ground free from rubbish, as required.Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.Empties pencil sharpeners daily.Dusts classroom areas and AV equipment on a weekly basis.Makes minor repairs.Reports major repairs needed promptly to the Facilities Director of Designee.Reports immediately to the head custodian any damage to school propertyRemains on the school premises during school hours, and during on-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his attendance required by the Facilities Director or Designee.Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off, if required.Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the Facilities Director or Designee.Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.Complex with AHERA Regulations regarding asbestos in the schools.Unloads and loads trucks when necessary.Keeps kitchen area clean.Keeps cafeteria area swept, mopped and clean.Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.Performs other such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Facilities Director, Principal of assigned school, or Designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve months with extended service as approved by the School Board. Salary and other terms and conditions of employment shall be governed by negotiated contract.
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the Facilities Director, Principal, or Designee in accordance with School Board Policy.
