Substitute NurseUnder the supervision of the District Head Nurse & Bldg. Principal, and in the absence of the Building Nurse.
District Substitutes are paid on a two times a month on the 15th and last day of each month.

POSITION SUMMARYProviding health services to students and school personnel by promoting, protecting, maintaining, and improving health to provide the fullest educational opportunity at Hillsboro R-3 School District.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Participates in medical examinations and reviews findings to evaluate health status of pupils and progress of programs.Authorizes exclusion and re-admission of students in connections with infectious and contagious diseases.Provides first-aid, and maintains health records of students.Cooperates with school personnel in identifying and meeting social, emotional, and physical needs of school children.Responsible for screening vision, blood pressure, head lice, measurements of height and weight.Assumes responsibility for referral of students in need of medical or dental care.Observes and advises students regarding health history and nutritional history.Assumes responsibility for the care of students or staff who have suffered injuries or emergency illnesses.Administers medications according to school policy.Maintains daily log of pupils seen in health unit and an up-to-date cumulative health records of all students.Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.Prepares and submits reports for the superintendent and state agencies including the required annual immunization report and scoliosis report.Recognizes and refers students encountering medical, physical and/or psychological problems.Provides guidance and training to others and gives input regarding aides performanceResponsible for the health unit including: requisitioning of supplies and equipment, inventory, supervision of auxiliary personnel and volunteers.Participates in evaluations of students and staffing as requested.Establishes and maintains appropriate working relationships by actively communicating with parents.Performs additional tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Health
