Purpose:
To assist other Process Improvers in the Hot End and oversee / continuously improve the daily operations of the Furnace and critical support systems including, but not limited to, Batch Plant and Cullet Systems, Furnace, Pollution Control Plant, Bath and Lehr while assuring optimal life of Hot End assets in a cost-effective manner.
Essential Functions:Provides engineering analysis, evaluation and coordination on the operation of Hot End projects which will allow the plant to maximize yields, product quality and meet budgeted costs.Assist with forecasts of various Hot End raw material requirements based on Furnace draw rates, and cullet ratios.Assure Hot End raw material vendor COA's meet specifications to assure compliant raw materials.Monitors SPC of Hot End control systems and oversees Preventative Maintenance on critical equipment and systemsIncumbent will coordinate and integrate all activities in order that plant equipment and systems are efficiently utilized/maintained. Also includes monitoring and reviewing safety/housekeeping requirements for Hot End.Continuously works with plant and corporate engineering group to improve existing process designs to reduce production costs.Provides consultation, analysis evaluation and review on problems of automation, advanced methods and equipment, material handling, etc. Develops and implements appropriate computer applications in process engineering.Constantly alert for technological developments in the Glassmaking industries. Pursues appropriate developments through tests/analysis and communicates the results to interested personnel.Maintains strong working relationship with other process engineers in the factory, and jointly implements hot end and coating application and developments.Develop and train employees to ensure the competency and skill levels of all hot end personnel.Provide technical support and on call support as necessary.Top 3 Competencies Needed for Success in the Role:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering: Chemical or Material ScienceExcellent interpersonal, coaching and communication skills.Ability to facilitate groups in an employee involvement environment.Basic computer skills- Excel, Word, PowerPoint; SPC knowledge is desired.Qualifications Desired:
1-3 years glass manufacturing experiencePractical experience in Float Glass Batch Plant, Furnace, Furnace PCP, Float Glass Forming and/or Annealing is desired.Previous supervisory experienceSelf-motivated individualMust be able to multi-task and work well under pressure.We offer an excellent compensation and benefits package, which includes 401k, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, company paid holidays, paid vacations, and education assistance .
