The Aquatic Director is responsible to ensure all participants are provided with activities which promote the social, cultural, educational, physical, and leadership potential of the child. Under the Aquatic Director's supervision all aquatic facilities will be clean and staffed by certified employees who reflect and support the Mission of the Old Colony Y. He/she will uphold the employee code of conduct and will ensure that all areas of the job responsibilities reflect the mission of the Old Colony Y, and regulating agency. The Aquatic Director will display and encourage the character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty and respect in the fulfillment of all job duties.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as a liaison between parents, staff and other administrative personnel.Effectively program the pool facilities to ensure maximum usage throughout the program year.Prepare marketing information ensuring maximum promotion of the OCY.Supervise pool area, locker rooms and swimmers at all times.Ensure that staff members are informing participants about program and pool procedures and enforcing all posted rules.Supervise aquatic events and encourage staff and members to participate in all Old Colony YMCA programs, services and events.Oversee the standardization of student testing for swimming levels.Maintain and oversee the filing of records for allReport all incidents/accidents on proper forms and submit to supervisor.Implement a minimum of 2 new programs annually.Coordinate and facilitate pool usage with all program departments.Teach swim classes as needed as well as Lifeguard as needed.SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL:
Recruit, hire, train and evaluate aquatic staff.Recruit, train and provide leadership for volunteers.Wear staff uniform and whistle at all times (while guarding) and ensure staff members do so as wellAssign and post staff schedules ensuring adequate coverage of the pool at all times.Ensure that all certifications and in-service training requirements are up to date for all staff and documentation is properly filed.FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adhere to all fiscal policies and procedures such as petty cash, program registration, purchase orders and employee expenses.Keep accurate attendance records and class records, checking with membership service before entering new names to rosters.Participate in the Annual Campaign by running at least one fundraising event in the aquatic department.Develop annual budget as it pertains to aquatics.Manage the aquatic portion of the program budget to meet or exceed the budgeted numbers.Promote, recruit and maintain memberships.FACILITY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Properly test water for chemical balance and record at assigned times (inform maintenance staff of chemical level problems).Check all safety equipment, reporting any problems in writing to supervisor.Properly open and close pool as scheduled.Ensure security and safety of pool area, never leaving area unattended or unlocked, check all doors and windows.Ensure cleanliness of pool areas daily, hosing deck, brushing down walls, cleaning staff office, putting equipment away in storage closet neatly, inspecting pool area and reporting all problems in writing to supervisor. Assign various jobs to staff and post.COMMITTEE AND COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in annual campaignPromote Y programs through public appearances and presentations.INTERDIVISIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
