Description
General Responsibilities:
Performs professional and administrative tasks requiring thorough knowledge of departmental operations and functions. Responsible for planning, organizing and directing the administrative and clerical functions of the department and/or assigned specific program or project responsibility. Work involves the ability to research, collect data, analyze and publish information. Work is performed under general supervision with considerable latitude for independent judgment.
Essential Duties:

Performs administrative tasks for department director and assistant director, as well as personnel within department;
Performs administrative tasks from the Infant and Toddler Connection to support their billing and overall programming;
Coordinates activities and acts as liaison with staff within the department as well as other departments on matters of mutual interest such as professional learning;
Communicates effectively with staff, parents, and community and is able to direct them to an appropriate source of information;
Acts independently on administrative matters within established policies and procedures;
Manages agendas, schedules and researches and compiles information;
Maintains and prepares statistical reports for department and division use analyzing information from the special education management program and student information system;
Assist with coordination of meetings, special events, materials, lunches, refreshments, etc. for various committee meetings;
Prepare replies to correspondence from brief dictated notes or on own initiative;
Assist with maintaining special education files and records;
Exercises discretion and independence in applying policies and procedures;
Acts independently on administrative matters within established policies and procedures;
Communicates effectively with students, parents, staff and administration
Interprets, applies and explains applicable laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with school division policies and practices.
Qualifications: KSA's, Education
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of public administration policies and procedures, computer software programs, and general management practices and procedures; thorough knowledge of departmental activities, procedures and organization; considerable knowledge of the operations, practices and techniques of school division; ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of others; ability to follow complex oral and written directions; ability to maintain complex records and prepare reports from such records; ability to work under pressure and make decisions in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and established procedures; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public, government officials, and other county employees. Coordinate administrative activities which require frequent contact with executives, the public, other agencies and campus officials. May attend meetings to relay and collect information. Ability to use a variety of software applications, including Google applications and Microsoft Office.
Education and Experience:
A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications
Required: High school diploma. Minimum three years' experience in administrative/clerical assistance roles, including recordkeeping, report and document creation and use of diverse technology equipment and applications to complete tasks.
Preferred: Associate's degree in Business Administration or related subject.

May need the ability for a wide range of motion to include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting approximately 32 lbs, grasping and manipulating.
