POSITION OVERVIEW:
In collaboration with the New York City Department of Education (DOE), Department of Youth and Community Development, and ACDP. Program Coordinator will work in conjunction with Program Team to support Summer Youth Employment Program. Program Coordinator(s) will support and focus on management and Supervision of the PBL/service learning component and support placement. Help to support Daily functions of the SYEP management and strengthen connections between academic learning and summer career exploration.
Pays: $25 per hour
Temporary Position
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Maintain all DYCD contractual obligations of the SYEP program and ensure that targets are being met on a weekly and monthly basis• Supervise (Summer) part time staff: establish work schedules, tasks, and monitor and evaluate work performance• Recruit and retain students for the program, Coordinate registration and enrollment of program participants• Support and lead program orientation and training programs• Establish partner sites to serve as hosts for summer job placements for older high school youth• Support the Design and implementation of curriculum for summer service-learning program for younger high school youth• Establish and maintain external collaborations with individuals and businesses to develop employment opportunities for high school students• Be accountable for significant job development and participant recruitment targets• Develop and maintain database/inventory of employment, training, and internship opportunities• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Department of Education (DOE) staff, youth, parents, and partners• Attend supervision and staff meetings• Conduct research, compile data, and prepare papers for consideration and presentation by the Manager• Perform general administrative duties, such as maintaining records, management of database systems, and performing basic bookkeeping work• File and retrieve documents, records, and report• Create and submit monthly reports that track overall program progress and results to Senior Director of Youth Employment Programs
REQUIREMENTS:• Good Customer Service• Analytical, Communications and Organizational skills
Excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities.Associates in youth Services or related Education field, Child Development or related field, BA preferredA minimum of two years' work experience in organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.Leadership skills, including conflict resolution, problem solving, decision making, delegation.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Experience and understanding of youth workforce programs, including at least one year in a supervisory roleAbility to convey and participate in team-oriented workStrong project management skills, including managing competing priorities and meeting deadlinesCultural competency through familiarity in working with people from diverse backgroundsStrong understanding of a wide array of NYC social service resources for youthExcellent facilitation skills; experience with training/teaching high school age youthOutcome driven with ability to respond to changing circumstances andAbility to work under pressureStrong communication skills across multiple platformsComputer literate, including experience with all Microsoft Office software packages; Google Drive (Gmail, Calendar, Contacts, Docs,); local area networks; and efficient use of the Internet• Ability to maintain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance and fingerprint clearance throughout the duration of employment.
