Position Description
Title: CHILD NUTRITION PROGRAM MANAGER
Reports to: Director
Job Goal: To serve the students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness .
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Upholds and enforces rules and regulations of the Child Nutrition Program and the Sylacauga City Board of EducationSupervises and instructs kitchen personnel in the safe, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipmentReviews menu in advance and places orders to assure ample time for deliveries of all food and suppliesChecks food/supply shipments in at the school, signing invoices only after each order has been verifiedSupervises and participates in the preparation and serving of meals according to planned menus and tested recipesPlans employee work schedules and arranges substitutes when necessaryMaintains employee time sheets and submits payroll data to the CNP director on a timely basisFollows and maintains the highest standards of safety and sanitation of the employees, equipment, and food preparation areaOversees the locking of the cafeteria storeroom, cooler, freezers, and maintains a perpetual inventory of food items and supplies and commodity items.Supervises the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment and washing and sterilizing of all dishes and utensilsReports immediately to the CNP Director any problem or accident in the food production area or the dining facilityReports immediately to the CNP Director any faulty or inferior quality food which is receivedConfers with the CNP Director about any personnel problemsOrients new employees and/or substitutes to facility and instructs them in performing their assigned tasksPromotes teamwork and harmony among employeesEvaluates all employees under their supervisionCompletes reports and submits them to the Central Office in a timely mannerMaintains all records as required by the Child Nutrition ProgramReceives suggestions from student groups regarding preferred foods and meals, and works with the CNP Director to incorporate valid suggestions into the Child Nutrition ProgramMaintains a regular and punctual attendance recordProvides on-going in-service training for CNP employees, including but not limited to HACCP procedures.Accurately accounts for daily cash receipts.Monitors the condition of kitchen equipment and assists with the preventative maintenance of equipment.Uses technology to maintain required records.Performs other such duties as required and/or assigned by the director of Child Nutrition.

QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalent, and a combination of training, education, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, abilities.Experience in food service organization involving the preparation and planning of menus, quantity cooking, serving of large numbers of meals, and inventory control.Knowledge of materials and methods used in quantity cooking.Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds with no assistance.Must be able to read a recipe and calculate quantities of food measurements.Must be ServSafe certified by end of second year of employment.Five years experience in a food service position is preferred.Ability to supervise other employees.Strong organizational and leadership skills.Computer literacy is essential.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be appropriate and acceptable.
