The Volunteer Coordinator will coordinate the Community Food Bank's Volunteer Program and act as liaison with key partners in the warehouse. The coordinator is responsible for collaborating externally with individuals and groups to schedule volunteers and communicate dates, times, shifts, numbers attending as well as providing follow up after the volunteer shift has occurred. They then communicate internally with teams and departments to facilitate successful event planning in the volunteer areas of the warehouse based on volunteer participation.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure a positive experience for all volunteers, long-term relationships with corporations, churches, civic organizations, and individuals to recruit and sustain a core base of volunteers.Volunteer Coordination includes scheduling groups, greeting, and interacting with volunteers, entering volunteer data in Volunteer Hub and Salesforce, and tracking volunteer hours.Update the whiteboards daily with volunteer numbers and group names.Coordinate with the Community Engagement and Programs Teams to schedule volunteers for box building, sorting, and public distributions.Provide weekly follow-up emails to volunteer groups with impact made during visitTake daily photos of volunteers and provide stats to Marketing & Communications Manager for social mediaConduct public presentations, informational booths, and/or tours of the warehouse with community groups.Serve as a backup for the first impressions coordinator.Present basic information about our organization, including statistics to all visitors and volunteers. Must be able to modify presentation based on the group to whom you are speaking.Engage in dialogue about food insecurity/hunger.This role highlights the mission of the Food Bank through brand management.Additional responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications:

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.Experience in volunteer organization/ public relationsSkills and Abilities

Excellent public speaking skills in a variety of settingsMust have excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task.Excellent customer service and relationship building/interpersonal skills.Excellent communication skills (written and oral).Self-starter, work independently as well as work effectively in a team.Outgoing and communicative by nature.Proven ability to motivate others and foster an energizing, cooperative environment.Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.Proficiency in using databases and Microsoft Office Professional Suite.Valid Alabama driver's license and vehicle insurance.Essential Physical Requirements

Ability to process information through a computer system.Ability to communicate with diverse constituents and staff.Ability to read, count, and write accurately to complete all documentation.Ability to lift 45 pounds.Ability to: walk, sit, squat, bend, twist, and reach at various heights above and below shoulder level, push or pull; lift large, heavy, awkward objects while?maneuvering in a confined space.?Ability to work in a warehouse climate in extreme temperatures between -10 to 100 degrees FAbility to work varied hours/days to oversee responsibilities.

Salary Description

$19.71-$21.15/ hour based on experience
