6.5 hours per day

Duties & Requirements:Work directly with students/groups of students in person and/or remotely.Display a level of confidence and authority to students.Display professional behavior at all times.Possess an ability to be flexible, changing gears at a moment's notice.Possess an open mind and sense of humorAbility to handle conflict.Attend all required training.Work with high needs student(s) to promote success within the school setting.Develop a working knowledge of the students with which you are working.Enthusiastically acknowledge student success.Develop a positive working relationship with the student while retaining professionalism as a staff member.Provide positive feedback when a student is behaving appropriately.Redirect student when necessary to keep him/her on task.Work with the student within the parameters of an individualized education plan.Monitor and supervise students throughout the school day.Perform various other duties including supervision and escorting students between classes when necessary.Keep in contact with regular education teacher; act as liaison between special education teacher and regular classroom teacher when appropriate.Work with all students in the classroom, with priority given to assigned students.Be willing and able to teach small groups of students as instructed by the teacher.Maintain a log of activities that take place throughout the day and chart student behavior as instructed by the special education teacher.Possess ability to anticipate teacher and/or student needs, and work independently in meeting those needs.Display a level of confidence and authority to students.Must possess flexibility in assignment, changing gears at a moment's notice.Excellent attendance and punctuality required.Training in use of behavior management preferred.Ability to work collaboratively as a team.Previous successful work with children with behavioral challenges preferredAssist students with toiletingOther duties as assigned by supervisorPhysical Requirements:

Ability to regularly walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull.Ability to work indoors and outdoors; inclement weather at timesAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Mandatory Conditions of Employment

Proof of High School diploma, or equivalent;Have one of the following (proof of completion submitted no later than 60 days following hire date):An AA Degree from an accredited academic college or universityA minimum of 72 college quarter creditsHave passed a district-recognized assessment of basic skills and instructional proficiency (currently the ETS test)Completion with passing score of Safety Cares training provided by Special EducationCompletion of 14 hours of Fundamental Course of Study/General Paraeducator Certificate training as provided and directed by the District (OSPI and PESB requirement).Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check.Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance.Completion of federal I-9 form.
