POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Camping Services,
the Assistant Camp Director
facilitates the daily camp operations to ensure campers have a memorable and impactful experience. This is a management position required to train, supervise and support camp staff. The director develops skills in communication, attention to detail, teamwork, leadership, workplace flexibility, experience in all departments that makes camp operate and overall professionalism. The work is to create a fun, safe environment that enriches lives.

Camp Westwood restructured its day camp program in 2024, is implementing an outdoor center program, and will be starting an overnight summer camp. Qualifications
Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCASuperior supervisory skills and an enthusiastic personality with the ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, members and participants to create a culture of serviceStrong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the communityMust present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment, initiative, versatility, and independent thinkingMust be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasksMust be able to maintain confidentiality of informationMinimum first aid, CPR and AED certificationProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is requiredMust be 25+ with a valid drivers license with a clean driving historyExperiences supervising staff preferred2-3 summers of camp leadership experienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in outdoor recreational programs requiredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Running and playing with childrenAbility to swim and climbAbility to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.Must be able to lift and carry/or assist children us to 50 pounds in weightMust be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.Essential Functions
