Are you passionate about the groundbreaking AI/ML technologies and their applications to real-world usage? We, the applied research team for Photoshop, are looking for a Principal Scientist who will help build the next generation of digital image editing applications. We deliver innovative AI/ML features for Photoshop to improve the creativity and usability of our customers. In this role, you will partner with multi-functional teams, research scientists, engineers, product designers, and product managers to bring research code into production-quality solutions and build Photoshop magic that delights customers. You will also work with the leadership team to define the product's technical roadmap and strategy. We want to welcome your expertise in algorithms, machine learning, software architecture, and design to improve our flagship Photoshop.Responsibilities:Develop a deep understanding of Photoshop codebase and imaging models and develop and integrate innovative technologies into Photoshop.Architect cross-platform imaging and AI/ML solutions with clear model-view separation, from algorithm development and back-end integration to implementing front-end user experiences.Communicate technical ideas effectively with team members and get on board for technical initiatives.Provide long-term vision for the product technical direction and evolution of large-scale cross-platform applications.Code Excellence: Write robust, scalable, performant, and secure code.Quality Assurance: Lead architectural and code reviews, critique design flaws, perform hands-on debugging, and write unit tests.Optimization: Optimize code for both CPU and GPU.Lead, mentor, guide, and coach junior engineers.Qualifications:Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science.Minimum of ten years in software development and shipping large-scale successful software.Experience with user-facing application development a plusStrong proficiency in C, C++ 11 and above, software architecture, coding, and design.In-depth knowledge of digital imaging and computer vision algorithms.Passionate about imaging and photography!Knowledge of color management, color theory, and color science.Strong understanding of computer architecture, memory systems, multithreading, and CPU/GPU optimization.Understanding of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence applications.Proficient in optimization on Mac and Windows platformsExcellent communication skills to convey sophisticated technical concepts.Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities.Customer empathy and focus on product excellence!

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $189,400 -- $357,900 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
