Basic Function
The Cost Accounting Analyst is responsible for the overall administration of the costing function at the plant level for all locations. This responsibility includes bill of material generation, product costing, capital expenditure (capex) evaluation, perform and consolidate account reconciliations, monthly absorption analysis, revaluation forecasting, variance reporting/analysis, and assisting Plant Controllers by providing quantitative data to identify and update costing when necessary.
Responsibilities :Coordinate half-year and year-end costing updates across all plants, as well as perform monthly analysis to monitor absorption and project potential inventory revaluation neededGenerate and maintain standard costing and bills of material in the ERP system for all plants which includes determining and monitoring costs associated with raw materials, labor, scrap, and overheadsAnalyze purchase price variance and material usage variance and advise Plant Controllers as to areas of possible cost updatesMonitor key balance sheet accounts, perform and consolidate account reconciliations for review (i.e., Gross Inventory Reconciliation, Work-in-Progress, among others)Prepare cap-ex requests including payback projections and discounted cash flow and monitor status of projects until completion.Ensure that all production is posted timely and accuratelyOrganize and present plant operations data to non-financial personnel and highlight areas for potential improvement (i.e., purchase price variance and material usage variance reporting, production reporting)Provide ad-hoc support to management as may be requiredEducation and experience requirements
BS/BA Degree in Accounting or FinanceMBA or CMA qualified or working towards certification preferred but not requiredRelevant experience (five + years) in a manufacturing environmentWell-developed analytical skills and experience in forecasting, budget preparation, and product costingProficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPointExperience with a larger ERP solution such as JD Edwards
