Paraprofessional 040 (200 Days)
DEPARTMENT:

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provide a positive, well-managed environment in the assistant principals' office, and assist the vice-principals and assistant principal as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:High School Dipoloma or GEDSpecial Knowledge/Skills:
Proficient skills in typing, word processing, and file maintenanceEffective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to operate a computer using a variety of basic applications
Minimum Experience :
One (1) year of clerical/secretarial experience or other equivalent experience or background
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Coordinate visits by students, teachers, and parents to the vice-principals' officesReceive incoming calls, take reliable messages, and schedule appointmentsAssist students, teachers, and parents as neededMaintain proper files as requiredPrepare correspondence, forms, and reports as requestedMaintain confidentiality of information and loyalty to the districtRemain informed of and comply with state, district, and school policies and regulations concerning primary job functions

Computer, fax machine, copier, telephone, etc.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITIES:
None
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem solving skills while under stress. Repetitive hand motions. Prolonged use of computer. Work with frequent interruptions.
Safety:
Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
