An exciting position has opened with America's Socially Responsible Bank! Amalgamated Bank seeks a Director of Operations to provide leadership and direction and will be responsible for overseeing all operational units within the banking division. This includes collaborating on division strategy development, the execution of key strategic initiatives, the deployment of technology and other process improvement methods to support the scalability, resiliency and control environment of the department, the successful execution of all operational processes daily, and full compliance with applicable laws and regulations across payments, item processing and lending.

Essential Job Functions:
Partner with Chief Operations Officer and respective team to set the division three-year strategy in support of the enterprise strategy.On an annual basis, lead planning exercises to identify key initiatives to drive the operational strategy forward, properly socializing across the department.Leverage technology to ensure scalability and resiliency of operational units. This should include continued deployment of RPA, machine learning and other AI solutions.Building a more immersed culture of accountability and continuous process improvement across the department.Oversee all aspects of banking division operations which includes:
Cash Management - All electronic payment processing, treasury management product administration, Reg E claims.Deposit Operations - Item processing, abandoned property, large dollar review, positive pay pre scrub; remote, mobile and ATM deposits.Loan Servicing - Loan closing, booking, funding, and servicing through lifecycle.
Identify opportunities to improve operational structure, in-house/outsourced models, process workflows, and/or back-office systems to increase automation, operational efficiency, and resiliency.Ensure appropriate staffing levels as the organization continues to grow. Identify and develop top talent, ensuring succession plans are in place for all critical roles and operational areas.Partner with business owners and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment on client needs, operational capabilities, and longer-term resource planning.Ensure the successful implementation of key projects (enterprise or divisional) that require or are initiated by Bank Operations.Ultimate accountability for holistic control environment and ongoing improvements to ensure efficacy and effectiveness of operational controls. This includes the development and ongoing evolution of all operational policies and procedures.Maintain good standing with internal and external auditors through a solid control environment.Perform other duties as directed.Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements
:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.Minimum 10 - 15 years of demonstrated operations management experience at a financial institution with knowledge of payment processing, item processing and loan servicing.Experience with ServiceNow, JIRA or other ticketing systems. Direct experience with rolling a ticketing system out across operational units is plus.Knowledge of bank systems, including banking cores, payment engines, item processing exchanges. Direct experience within the FIS ecosystem and the Horizon core is preferred.Experience in large leading diverse teams to drive results, process improvement and optimize efficiency.Demonstrated experience influencing outcomes across cross functional teams.Experience with M&A activity, specific to core and ancillary system conversions.Six sigma certification a definite plus.Excellent leadership, managerial, project management, and planning skills.Strong analytical and organizational skills.Exceptional knowledge of relevant banking regulations.Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization, including executive and board level presenting.
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this role is $220,000.00 - $240,000.00. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferrable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
