Specific Responsibilities

The Accountant I role for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache's accounting organization and perform higher level analysis, reconciliations, and reviews focused on monthly financial close responsibilities, ad hoc projects and system implementations, and internal reporting.

Perform a host of various accounting functions and tasks related to Apache properties and affiliate subsidiaries.Perform duties that may include training teammates, troubleshooting issues, overseeing internal controls, functioning as team backup, and assisting with system testing efforts focused primarily within the employee's assigned responsibilities.Assist with month-end close, including reviewing variance analysis explanations for accuracy and clarity, providing critical quality control over close cycle processes, and performing key internal control procedures timely.Review and approve monthly journal entries and reconciliations; working with accountants as needed for required corrections.Review and oversee responses related to: owner inquiries, operational Asset Team inquiries, and internal & external audit requests.Work on special projects with analytical fortitude, and ability to be a key contributor on team projects.Work directly with operational Asset Teams, as well as other groups internal to Apache, to problem solve and provide specific guidance as needed.May act as lead or first-level supervisor of Accountant I and Accountant II positions.Performs work with a high degree of latitude and the ability to appropriately prioritize assigned tasks.Possesses deep understanding and knowledge of subject matter with analytical thinking skills and problem-solving ability.Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet monthly deadlines.Able to provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to A1 and A2 team members.Able to work well in a team setting with consistent and professional interactions and approachability with team members.Possesses strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, administrative, and organizational abilities.Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Accounting; other field of study may be considered when combined with a minimum of 12 completed accounting hours.Entry level 1+ years of general accounting experience in the oil and gas industry.Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, and Outlook.Knowledge and experience in SAP preferred.Expenditure Accounting (LOE/Capital Accounting)Knowledge and experience with joint venture accounting strongly preferred.Knowledge and experience with COPAS preferred.Competencies
