AMN is honored to partner with Kalkaska Memorial Health Center (KMHC) and its Board in the recruitment of a new President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The Opportunity:
This is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished, forward-thinking, and collaborative, growth-oriented executive to join an outstanding, independent healthcare and senior living provider organization at a key time in its history. The future CEO, KMHC will have the benefit of building upon a positive organizational culture, coupled with a solid leadership team, excellent reputation, and overall financial strength.
The Position:
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the CEO provides administrative leadership and direction to all aspects of KMHC, including all operational and clinical activities across the organization. The CEO is the lead executive for KMHC and represents KMHC in the local community.
The successful candidate must have gravitas, knowledge, vision, and ability to execute on a new strategic plan to ensure ongoing and future success, financial stability, and intentional growth, while also maintaining KMHC's existing positive and collaborative culture and continued operational strength. This new executive will serve as the external voice and face of KMHC, the "chief advocate" and be capable of ensuring KMHC remains independent.
The Organization:
KMHC is an independent, community-based, non-profit, municipal health center located in Kalkaska, MI. KMHC encompasses 147 beds comprised of 8 critical access acute inpatient beds, 20 skilled rehabilitation beds, 24 memory care beds, 60 long term care beds, and 35 assisted living beds. All facilities are hospital based, which provides residents with access to healthcare and emergency medical care 24 hours a day.
KMHC owns and operates an expanding and profitable medical practice, Kalkaska Medical Associates, which is comprised of 14 family medicine practitioners in addition to physician medicine, pediatrics and an array of contracted medical and surgical specialists from Munson Healthcare. The active medical staff includes more than 25 providers.
KMHC is affiliated with Munson Healthcare system, northern Michigan's leading and largest healthcare provider. KMHC became a non-owned affiliate of Munson Medical Center / Munson Healthcare (MHC) in 1976. This longstanding relationship has provided both parties with financial and clinical benefits. Today, KMHC is the only non-owned affiliate of MHC and leverages numerous back office and clinical services from MHC through vendor agreements.
Kalkaska Memorial Health Center has experienced steady and consistent revenues and is in good financial standing and has a strong balance sheet.For FY 2024, KMHC had a net operating revenue of 80 million and 174 days cash on hand.KMHC has remained financially healthy over recent history and is committed to growth through investments and expansion efforts that support the community.

Kalkaska County, located in Northern Michigan, is known for its natural beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities. With over 80 lakes and 275 miles of rivers and streams, it is a paradise for fishing, kayaking, and boating enthusiasts. The county is also home to the Pere Marquette State Forest, offering extensive trails for hiking, biking, and snowmobiling.Residents enjoy a peaceful, rural lifestyle with the added benefit of being part of the Traverse City metropolitan area, providing access to more urban amenities while maintaining a close-knit community feel.
