General Description of the Position
Reporting to the Department Chair, the Associate Professor of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is a full time 9-month Tenure Track Faculty Position. The Associate Professor of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP will be responsible for the primary task of teaching graduate courses offered as part of the Nursing (PMHNP) major curriculum. The qualified candidate will be adaptable and capable of teaching a variety of courses, both online and in-person, within the Graduate Nursing major program of study. It will also be expected for the candidate to serve on committees, and participate in official activities on the Department, College, and University levels.
Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The following are the functions essential to performing this job.Teach assigned pedagogy, theory and/or clinical courses in both the undergraduate and graduate programs.Participate in curriculum and assessment development.Participate in syllabi development and or revision.Participate on University/ Department /Professional committeesEngage in grant writing and scholarly activity.Demonstrate and maintain professional competence and knowledge of subject matterMeet each class as scheduled.Maintain congruency with course descriptions, syllabus, and the University Catalog.Maintain office hours to counsel and advise students.Within a reasonable time provide students evaluations of their academic and/or clinical performance.Participate in other assigned duties needed for the operation of the Department.Other Functions
Individuals in this job may be assigned one or more of the following tasks on a rotating or as-needed basis.
Coordinate Didactic approved program.Community outreach.Research within the area of clinical expertise (beyond thesis and dissertation).Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Medical-Surgical nursing with Significant clinical experience in outpatient, acute and or long term care practice.Demonstrated curriculum and/or assessment development per accrediting regulatory requirementsMust be able to teach across nursing curriculum.Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of students within a university setting.Strong ability to communicate both orally and in writing.Demonstrate the ability to work as a team to create innovative educational experiences and provide an environment where students are partners in learning.Qualification Standards
Education: Master's degree in nursing with a current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the State of Delaware with PMHNP certification. An earned doctorate degree in nursing or related area.Successful experience: a minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience in advanced practice as an outpatient, acute, and/or long-term care or related field.The candidate must be current with new teaching technologies and demonstrate the ability to think, creatively, with innovation in mind, to meet the current needs of the profession and student at the graduate level within the nursing profession.Other preferences: Demonstrates teaching experiences in related practice fields within the nursing profession (community, mental health, and/or medical-surgical)Hold a current PMHNP certification through the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification accredits this American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification.Performance Standards & EEO Statement
