The Sr. Production Manager provides overall leadership and direction to the Operations team with a focus on delivering the key operational performance indicators while meeting standards and requirements for employee safety, food safety, food quality, service and cost. He / she will serve as the launch team leader for new products and/or production lines, ensuring that new business is commercialized into their business unit in a food safe, people safe and profitable manner. The Sr. Production Manager promotes a culture of continuous improvement, with both internal and external customers, always searching for new ways to improve both the safety and profitability of business unit.
This role reports to the Director of Plant Operations and maintains department level responsibility over multiple production lines. The Sr. Production Manager has direct reports to include Production Manager and/or Production Supervisors to assist with the daily management of the operation. This role regularly engages with the internal sales team and the external customers on new business opportunities and with peers from to safety, sanitation, logistics, human resources, engineering, supply chain planning, IT and finance to drive continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities:Understand, uphold, and help lead efforts to refine employee safety and food safety programs, as well as food quality and line sanitation programs.Actively participates in the design of new production lines to ensure that the operational considerations are incorporated into the design.In conjunction with the commercialization team, leads the launch of new items into the business unit ensuring that all people safety, food safety and profitability expectations are realized.Conducts post project reviews to ensure all goals have been met and learnings are shared with team members to build the teams capabilities.Set clear goals, strategies and measures and develop plans and tactics to deliver continuous improvement of key performance indicators that deliver operational productivityOversee the efforts of production manager(s) and/or production supervisors to ensure work is prioritized appropriately and being executed in a thorough manner consistent with customer requirements.Develops a culture that engages employees at all levels to improve the performance and stability of the operations in their functional areas. Engages employees at all levels to attract and retain talent.Has direct responsibility for the P&L of the business unit. Takes effective actions to address any budget shortfalls. Ensure accurate and reliable production performance reporting.Identify skills gaps across the team in your department and implements training programs to develop the expertise needed to operate efficiently.Oversee plans and processes to reduce downtime and increase line availability through proper preventive maintenance planning and equipment inspectionIdentify, define and develop capital projects with corporate engineering resources and the plant operations team.Maintain a clean, organized, uncluttered and safe work environment, ready for safety, food safety and customer quality audits.
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in food/manufacturing related field, engineering, business administration or management, or equivalent experience.Ability to work effectively in a team environment while developing employees.Experience with continuous improvement methodologiesSkilled at guiding leaders through the engagement of employees to leverage diverse perspectives towards obstacle removal / Problem Solving10+ years of industry experience in progressive leadership roles abilitiesProficient with Microsoft Office suite
Desired Qualifications:Experience applying continuous Improvement methodologies in the workplace.Thorough understanding of industrial automationProficient with Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft AX
Physical Requirements:Able to safety move and work around moving equipment and in a variety of conditions, including standing for long periods of time.Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Language Skills Requirements:Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently, multi-lingual is a plus.Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, and other outside agencies as needed
