Summary:
The Custodian is responsible for keeping assigned building(s) clean, safe, functional, and secure in accordance with prescribed codes and established district policies and standards. A custodian must maintain all assigned building(s) in a state of operational excellence such that they present no interruptions, distractions, or obstacles to the education program.
Essential Functions:Performs inside and outside cleaning and sanitizing services as assignedPerform grounds related tasks as required and assigned including, but no limited to, seeding, watering, planting, mowing, trimming, weeding, etc.Perform maintenance repairs and replacements as directed including department approved preventive maintenance procedures.Transport, storage and inventory of equipment, materials and supplies as required.Restoration of resilient and hard surface floors (stripping, wet vacuuming, rinsing, sealing, waxing, bufifng, polishing) as directed.Renewal of carpeting (spot removal and shampooing).Provides setups for banquets, concerts, band, health fairs, athletic contests, community education activities, conferences, meetings, and other events, as directedProvides custodial type security services such as building checksMaintain adequately supplied custodial closets in neat and clean condition.Performs other building maintenance tasks as assigned or directedPerforms snow and ice removal tasks as needed and directedEducation and/or Certification Required:
High School Diploma or GEDExperience Needed:
Custodial experience preferredRequisite Skills:
Ability to read, write, understand, convey and follow clear written and verbal instructions.Ability to work alone when given instruction.Ability to work standing/walking for long periods of time, to frequently push, pull, lift, twist, stand, raise arms above shoulders, stoop to floor, work in a noisy environment, at varying temperatures, inside and outside.Ability to climb ladders and stairs.Physical ability to perform tasks described on a routine basis.Ability to work well with people.Ability to support a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion
