General DescriptionThis position provides skilled administrative and technical assistance to CSO staff in the Instruction and Professional Development and Human Rights departments. It supports the work of the departments in developing and coordinating several extensive and complex programs and projects. Based on knowledge of management policies, views, plans and interests, incumbent takes the initiative in optimizing the flow of work using sound judgment and tact while deciding priorities.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesMay perform any combination of the tasks listed below:Provides administrative support to CSO staff and particular aspects of programs assigned to the Instruction and Professional Development and Human Rights departments.Composes and prepares detailed correspondence for the department.Compiles, tracks and maintains computer driven reports, using current technology, on programs and projects assigned to the department.Provides a variety of assistance in support of various committees, meetings and State Council both in the office and on site as assigned.Plans, coordinates and follows through on large complex logistical projects assigned on a continuing basis requiring independent determinations.Arranges meetings and conferences, prepares materials for duplication and performs other logistics as assigned.Reconciles and submits members' expenses as assigned.Answers telephones and responds to inquiries as appropriate.Assists in identifying, developing and reporting information from files and other resource documents.Establishes and maintains files and records.Compiles and reports information from records, documents, etc.Edits to final form reports, correspondence and minutes of meetings using correct English usage, grammar, punctuation and spelling.Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.Functions Unique to This Position

Assists in uploading and editing content to the IPD and Human Rights webpages.Qualifications - Minimum Required

Associate degree & 1 year relevant experience or High School diploma/GED & 4 years relevant experience.Ability to learn and communicate CTA structure, policies, procedures, programs and services.Ability to function effectively under considerable pressure and solve complex office problems independently.Demonstrated ability to exercise planning, coordinating and follow-through skills as applied to large complex logistical projects.Ability to work cooperatively with fellow employees in a complex interdependent organizational structure.Ability to work cooperatively with leadership and management.Ability to prioritize multiple projects and adapt to changes in priorities.Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.Proficient word processing skills with minimum keyboarding speed of 55wpm.Proficiency in computer technology and the ability to learn and use the Association's software programs.Ability to travel as needed.Ability to work overtime as needed.

*This position is in a bargaining unit represented by CAS. Salaries are established by a collective bargaining agreement. Step placement is also determined by the CTA/CAS Agreement.
