Job Description
The Acquisition Innovation Research Center (AIRC) is seeking to hire a Coordinator who will oversee assisting our Senior Program Manager for the Defense Civilian Training Corps (DCTC) in day-to-day operations, projects, and events. This task involves monitoring project plans, schedules, budgets, and expenditures, organizing and participating in stakeholder meetings, conference events, and ensuring that project deadlines are met in a timely manner.
To be successful as a project coordinator, you will need to be able to work on tight deadlines, be competent in using Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel, and have exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills. A bachelor's degree in a related field of study and at least two years of relevant experience is required for consideration. Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends as program delivery requires. Prospective candidates must within daily commuting distance to the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area.
Project Coordinator Responsibilities:
• Maintaining and monitoring project plans, project schedules, budgets, and expenditures.
• Organizing, attending, and participating in stakeholder meetings and events.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Documenting and following up on important actions and decisions from meetings.
• Preparing necessary presentation materials for meetings.
• Ensuring project deadlines are met.
• Determining project changes.
• Providing administrative support as needed.
• Undertaking project tasks as required.
• Developing project strategies.
• Ensuring projects adhere to frameworks and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project.
• Maintain project management calendar and schedules for fulfilling each goal and objective.
Project Coordinator Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in business or related field of study.
• 2+ years of experience in a related field.
• Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
• Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Knowledge of file management, transcription, and other administrative procedures.
• Ability to work on tight deadlines.
• A thorough understanding of event planning and management, including: logistics, budgets and event marketing.
• Proven ability to work independently and autonomously to manage tasks, events, programs and other projects.
• Understanding of graphic design concepts to facilitate superior collaboration with the marketing communications team.
Additional Preferences:
• Experience in higher education and the Department of Defense and/or Defense Industrial Base.
• Moderate project management background with experience utilizing MS Project, JIRA, Smartsheet, or similar project management applications.
• Experience using Canva, Adobe Express or similar graphic design applications.
• Independent ability to research event industry language, trends, technology, and systems and make recommendations.
