Job Description
We have an immediate opening with our Arconic/Kawneer business for a
Senior Designer
that is driven by creating design solutions for our commercial development customers! This position is based at our office in Harrisonburg, VA.
The successful candidate will have the ability to conceptualize building enclosures, drawing technical façade construction details, and assisting with the specifications of writing and reviewing architectural/ shop drawings, testing, and construction. In addition, the candidate must have experience in the design and/or engineering of a variety of facades including unitized curtain walls.
Our major projects are diverse in scale, detail, and complexity, may require some minor travel throughout North America (mostly United States, Canada, and Mexico) and some international travel, and the ability to work on multiple projects at a time is essential.
Responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities include:Create proposal details in support of sales pursuit efforts, using depth of Kawneer drafting experience for standardization of detailing and components maintained within MPG custom libraries.Understanding architectural and structural documents is crucial to this function.Custom extrusion die drawings and glazing component part drawings are often created for assuring accurate quotes.Secondary role is to generate thermal models and simulations to evaluate custom system performance with full thermal report output.Special circumstances have required developing unusual project condition details or mock-up drawings and/or assembly and installation instructions in support of execution of contracts.Working from architectural documents and using input from sales and design manager, create proposal drawings supporting bid.Run extrusion profile properties and create custom component drawings for pricingDevelop thermal models and simulation reportsMaintains MPG custom and standard library in conjunction with Vault and stays current with Kawneer drafting practices and templatesCreating custom component drawingsModifying standard product detailingThe ideal candidate will possess:
Experience with SEF, curtainwall, and unitized curtainwallKnowledge of Kawneer products and its applicationStrong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlinesAbility to take initiative and manage projects from beginning to the endAutoCAD, Revit, InventorThermal ModelingBlue BeamMS Office SuiteVaultMajor customers:
Internal Customers: Project Management, Engineering, Drafting, Design, Estimating, Sales, Corporate Lead Team, Production Control, Tooling and Manufacturing Departments.External Customers: Kawneer Customers, Architects, Vendors and General Contractors.Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
An Associate degree related to architecture, mechanical engineering or Drafting Certificate from an accredited institution.Minimum 3 years of experience in the construction industry to include facades and building design.Minimum 3 years of experience in CAD related softwareEmployees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as an architectural or structural designer for projects of $1 million or more in valueExperience in 3D modeling including thermal modelingExperience with unitized curtain wall design
