Job Summary
The Head of Data Operations will oversee the global data operations and data transfers/services team, responsible for ensuring accuracy, availability, and reliability of data for both internal and external clients. This role will lead a global team of data operations professionals, responsible for around the clock management of batch jobs, data interfaces, file/data transfers, alert monitoring, abend resolution, incident management, escalation/coordination with other teams and data analysis.
This is a hands-on role that will actively monitor and seek ways to streamline data processes, improving response times and avoiding delays without relying on automation alone. Experience managing globally dispersed offshore teams in a follow the sun model is critical. Adopting a flexible and urgent approach to a fast-paced environment and constantly changing priorities are other important traits of this individual. This role will report to the Chief Data Officer.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead and develop a high performing operations team that includes offshore teams in APAC, India, Romania, London, and Charlotte, through effective communication and management to drive excellence in delivery and collaboration.Flexibility - managing a global team that is on call around the clock requires adaptability to react to issues and constantly changing priorities in an urgent manner.Responsible for all data transfers/services and data operations; batch monitoring, incident management, escalations, data analysis and response management. Other responsibilities include managing client and vendor requests, managing feeds and transfer of data in and out of the firm to third party vendors and partners.Responsible for monitoring and alerting/broadcasting delays in Service Level Agreements for data availability.Responsible for Operational efficiency: Maintaining and optimizing operational workflows, identifying, and implementing opportunities for process improvements.Maintaining an understanding of the firm's operational data hubs and warehouse schemas and keeping the team continuously trained on the same.Coordinating with the other Enterprise Data leadership team on cross functional projects, ensuring data requirements and other batch/interface related considerations are addressed.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field is preferred.Extensive experience (10+ years) in the asset management business and at least 5+ years leading and managing a global data operations team.Demonstrable asset management experience and knowledge is key.Proven track record of developing and managing data operations, technical know-hows of industry leading batch schedulers and experience with around the clock batch support.Extensive experience with alert monitoring, abend triaging, incident management, managing risks, operations, and best practices.Experience leading global teams, must have experience developing and motivating global teams, including management of offshore teams of data professionals.Flexible approach: managing a globally dispersed team requires adaptability and flexibility to respond to incidents and urgent issues.A strong sense of urgency and a strong knowledge of SLA best practices, response and delivery time, and vendor engagement and communicationAn innovative problem-solver, the ability to identify core problems and opportunities to improve processes.Hands on technical experience and willingness to roll sleeves up.Technical knowledge/experience with Azure Data Lake, Data Bricks, Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL Databases.Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate ideas into business recommendations.Excellent communication skills, regular interaction with senior stakeholders both internally (senior leadership) and externally (vendors). Strong cultivator of relationships.Proficient in data analysis tools (Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Python).Have deep knowledge of industry trends and able to provide thought leadership.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to situations.#LI-JS1
