Accounting at Brex
The Accounting team at Brex ensures that we have perfect financial reporting, but even more so, we serve as beta testers and power users of Brex's financial products, providing analysis and feedback prior to product releases. Not only are we responsible for maintaining accurate books and records, we are also deeply passionate about automation and partner closely with the Engineering team to implement technological improvements.
What you'll do
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of our financial records and in developing scalable and sustainable processes as the business grows. As the Senior Accountant you will be exposed to a variety of areas, including but not limited to our charge card, payment and SaaS products, account reconciliations, fluctuation analysis and more. You will work cross functionally within a detail-oriented environment where creative problem solving is highly valued. The Senior Accountant is expected to manage multiple priorities concurrently without compromising quality, accuracy or completeness.
Where you'll work
This role will be based in our San Francisco office. You must be willing to work in office at least 2 days per week on Wednesday and Thursday, starting the week of January 6th, 2025. Employees will be able to work remotely for up to 4 weeks per year, for a minimum of one week at a time.
ResponsibilitiesOwnership of the accounting process for our Spend Management SaaS product, including setting up reconciliations, performing contract reviews and working with cross-functional teams to drive system improvements.Ownership of the accounting process for costs of revenue as it relates to the Brex Card product. This includes setting up reconciliations and assessing the appropriateness of estimates used.Ensure timely month-end close through the preparation of journal entries, reconciliations and variance analyticsFrom time to time, supporting areas such as fixed assets, internal use software, cost allocation and othersIdentify and deliver process improvements via cross functional collaborationCreate sustainable, repeatable and scalable processes, including the review and update of process documentationRequirements
College graduate with a 4-year degree in Accounting or related field3 years of public accounting and/or private industry experienceAbility to examine and verify financial documents, reports, and transactions; research and analyze accounting transactions; verify the accuracy of data; reconcile financial data and accountsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and address difficult situations in a professional mannerInnovative and able to provide "outside of the box" solutionsPassion for having an owner's mentality towards responsibilities and for career growthExperience implementing and improving business processes and systemsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to manage deadlines effectivelyEffective verbal, listening, and written communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Excel and Google SheetsBonus Points
Licensed CPAA combination of public accounting and private industry experienceRelevant experience in SaaS and credit card/payment processingKnowledge and experience using NetSuite, Looker and/or other data visualization/ automation software
Compensation
The expected salary range for this role is $96,022.88 USD - $120,028.60 USD. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate's location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
