The Department of Population Health is seeking a Clinical Resource Specialist, Sr. to join the Bellwether Collaborative for Health Justice (BCHJ), an interdisciplinary research team led by Dr. Lauren Brinkley-Rubinstein, united by a dedication to shining a light on health disparities and societal inequalities driven by mass incarceration.
With over 6.5 million adults involved in the American criminal legal system, mass incarceration has a far-reaching impact on the health and well-being of individuals and entire communities. Even brief periods of incarceration can disqualify people from housing and employment opportunities, exacerbate mental and behavioral health conditions, and place people at increased risk for chronic illness.
The Collaborative seeks to address the deleterious effects of mass incarceration by engaging in innovative, high-impact research that centers the voice and experiences of those most affected by the carceral system.
Since its foundation in 2016, the Collaborative has become a leader in the field of carceral health research, contributing to over 150 publications and academic presentations and receiving over 15 awarded grants from federal and private sponsors.
Minimum Requirements:
An Associate's degree is required.
Work requires one year of relevant experience. A Bachelor's degree may substitute for required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
We will prioritize candidates with an expressed interest in working with individuals affected by the criminal legal system.
This position is hybrid, working on-site for a minimum of two days weekly, and must reside in the state of NC.

Position Description:
Work across multiple projects across the BCHJ portfolio, including projects that touch on: improving access to treatment for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) among incarcerated populations, community-led research initiatives, big-data driven research, and climate change.
Concurrently contribute to projects across all stages of the research lifespan, including projects that are recently funded, and those in their final years. In addition to supporting the research team in ways listed below, the BCHJ will provide the hired candidate with opportunities to meaningfully contribute to the development of scholarly products, including manuscript authorship and academic conference presentations.

Under supervision, prepares for study monitoring and audit visits. Maintains participant-level documentation for non-complex (e.g., questionnaire, data registry, scripted) studies.Follows SOPs and strategies to manage and retain research subjects.Recruits research participants according to study protocol.Screens participants in person or over the phone for non-complex studies.Ethics:
Under supervision may collect information about adverse events, identified in the protocol or investigator brochure.Conducts and documents consent for participants in non-complex studies.Assists with the development of consent plans and documents for participants. Under supervision, for non-complex studies (e.g., survey studies and registries), develops and submits documentation and information for IRB review.Data:
Enters and collects basic data for research studies.May assists with quality control and data cleaning as directed.Under supervision, corrects and documents incomplete, inaccurate or missing data.Follows SOPs for quality assurance. Follows required processes, policies, and systems to ensure data security and provenance.Recognizes and reports security of physical and electronic data vulnerabilities.Follows predetermined SOPs to assist in documenting and maintaining documentation to facilitated data sharing.Knowledgeable about the use of data standard policies.Under supervision, assists in preparing tables, data visualizations, and lay summaries to communicate study results to participants.Assists in updating reports on study progress for the PI and other study team members and collaborators.Science:
May assist with simple literature searches under supervision from PI or CRC.Demonstrates and applies a basic understanding of open science practices and the FAIR data principles.Under guidance, develops elements of research protocols for simple studies (e.g., registries, survey studies).Demonstrates a basic understanding of the elements of research study designs. For studies with simple supplies or equipment, ensures that there are ample supplies and that equipment is in good working order.Follows protocol-specific systems and process flows.Leadership:
