Job Description:

The Retail Food Safety Manager will oversee and manage the day to day Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) of all of RaceTrac's food offers across all convenience store locations. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations, maintaining high standards of food quality and hygiene to protect our customers and brand reputation. This position will also be responsible for managing external resources, such as third party FSQA auditors, creating and cascading all policies and procedures related to FSQA best practices across all stores and providing subject matter expertise to assist with the development of training programs for the retail store teams. Up to 35% travel.

Responsibilities:

Program Management:Manage the retail food safety program ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Provide food safety expertise in program development, compliance assistance, and training material development.Manage third-party food safety audit programs.Develop, implement, and monitor food safety policies and procedures.Inspections and Audits:Conduct periodic inspections and audits of all food handling and storage areas.Ensure compliance with HACCP, FSMA, and GMP standards.Review and respond to all Retail audit reports and Health Department Inspection reports.Conduct random audits at the retail level and follow up on corrective actions.Training and Development:Collaborate with the Food and Beverage Operations team on proper Food Safety practices and protocols.Develop communication programs to keep employees current in food safety/sanitation policies, procedures, metrics, and training.Ensure that food safety training programs are updated and standardized.Compliance and Documentation:Manage documentation for all food safety-related activities.Investigate and address any food safety complaints or incidents.Handle any potential food recall incidents effectively.Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.Collaboration and Improvement:Collaborate with management to continuously improve food safety standards.Evaluate and recommend food safety measures for new merchandising plans, food production processes, new store designs, and new technologies.Maintain a food safety web page on the company Retail Portal to include SOP's, best practices and food safety resources.Establish working relationships with FDA and state governmental agencies (Federal, State and Local) that RaceTrac operates in.Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or a related field.4-7 years of progressive food safety experience required, manufacturing or retail food safety experience is preferred.Comprehensive knowledge of retail food operations.Familiarity with FDA Food Code and Food Safety Modernization Act.Familiarity with GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) schemes.Working knowledge of Federal Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) is beneficial.Excellent oral/written communication skills.Excellent organizational, influence, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact, communicate, and present to all levels of the organization.Flexible and adaptable to learning and understanding new technologies.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Products.Strong project management skills to with the ability to effectively meet deadlines.Working knowledge of store operations, food safety, and microbiological concepts is a plus.Ability to provide technical consultation and assistance to operations and general office personnel regarding food safety compliance issues.
