Additionally, our department offers catering services for meetings and fulfills special requests, ensuring that events and conferences are supported with exceptional food offerings.

Purpose of the Job

The Director of Nutrition Services is responsible for directing and managing the entire Nutrition Services Department, including patient and staff food services, cafeteria and catering operations, nutrition education, and support personnel. This role is crucial in ensuring that Bingham Healthcare's nutrition services meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Management:

Direct and manage all operations within the Nutrition Services Department, including the cafeteria, catering, patient food services, and kitchen staff.Provide effective leadership and guidance to staff in goal setting, problem-solving, and resource management.Define performance objectives and assess staff competence in a timely manner.Demonstrate a commitment to a healthy work environment by modeling desired behaviors and encouraging those in others.Collaborate with other departments to create systems, solve problems, and resolve issues impacting departmental and organizational goals.

Operational Excellence:

Plan, organize, and direct activities to provide a comprehensive food services program, including regular and special diets, in accordance with accepted standards of sanitation and safety.Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, meeting all applicable regulatory requirements.Direct the maintenance of all required records and compilation of reports, both technical and administrative.

Financial and Resource Management:

Develop and monitor departmental budgets, report variances, and submit capital requests to appropriate authorities.Demonstrate fiscal accountability for departmental resources, achieving outcomes within allocated resources.Develop and implement new nutritional programs, incorporating quality improvement and patient satisfaction data into departmental goals.

Communication and Community Engagement:

Communicate Bingham Healthcare's mission, vision, and values, as well as departmental goals, to all staff.Engage with internal contacts, including patients, providers, staff, volunteers, and visitors, as well as external contacts, such as vendors, community agencies, and regulatory agencies.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's or master's degree in food and nutrition, dietetics.Completion of a recognized dietetics internship program.

Minimum Work Experience:

Five or more years of progressively responsible nutrition services administrative experience.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

Current registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration.Current licensure through the Idaho State Board of Medicine.Active membership in the American Dietetics Association is strongly recommended.Participation in seminars, workshops, and self-study programs to fulfill CPEU requirements through the CDR.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Demonstrates effective management and supervisory principles.Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing food service.Strong communication skills and the ability to demonstrate hospital values consistently.Basic computer skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
