Description

Summary:

The Dispatch Specialist is responsible for planning and tracking of container movement utilizing most efficient and effective routing on a daily basis. The Dispatch Specialist also ensures time-sensitive cargo moves to its final destination within established terms and provides direction and guidance to Contract Drivers to ensure goals are accomplished.

Key Responsibilities:Communicates daily with Customers, Contract Drivers, Steamship Terminal Personnel, and internal service representatives; coordinating, troubleshooting and resolving issuesCoordinate and problem solve pick-ups and deliveries with Contract Drivers, partner carriers, rail operators, and port operatorsMeets all customer levels of service and deadline requirements eliminating any service failures.Records and audits all documents for equipment trackingTrack, trace and report container activityManage driver-payUpdate relevant systems to track appointments and draysAuthorize equipment drops and monitor container idlingCommunicate company policies and procedures to Contract Drivers, monitor performance against standards, and recommend corrective action to managementDevelops and maintains a positive working rapport with customers, Terminal Operators, and Contract DriversProcess and complete all documentation assigned in a timely mannerTrack shipping and billing data appropriately and promptlyAbility to work in a fast paced environmentPromotes DDSI's commitment to Contract Driver safety complianceAssists Customer Service and other office personnel in handling day to day duties required by managementSupports the company's commitment to Integrated Management Systems (IMS) certificationsEducation and Experience:

Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.High School Diploma/GED; College degree preferredTechnical Skills:1+ years' experience either in dispatching, customer service and/or intermodal transportationBasic proficient with Microsoft products (Excel, Word and Outlook) and web based software.Soft Skills:

$23-$25 an hour

*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
