SUMMARY

Responsible for the cleanliness and servicing building. Preforms basic maintains on the facility and building grounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Dust /damp mop floors, baseboards, rooms, stairways, utility rooms, bathrooms, and corridors in assigned areas.Strips, scrubs, refinishes and burnish floor surfaces assigned.Collects medical waste and general trash from holding areas. Transports and places material in the containers for Waste Disposal Contractor it up.Clean stairways, stairwells, walls and interior portions of building entrances.Removes gum and other foreign substances from surfaces and fixtures.Removes dirt, scuff marks, and build-up from floor using appropriate techniques.Applies stripper, sealer, and finishes to floors.Shampoos, extracts, and spots carpeted floor surfaces using applicable chemicals, equipment, and procedures.Polices grounds as assigned to maintain free of paper, trash, and other debris.May be assigned to clean sidewalks, steps, interior portions of garages and other required areas.Removes water from areas by mopping or vacuuming operations.During winter, removes snow and ice as necessary and spreads deicing chemicals.Performs routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis, accepting supervision from a number of persons.Responsible for the proper use, care, maintenance and storage of environmental services equipment, tools and materials used during the execution of his/her tasks.Conforms to all safety and fire regulations.Reports to Director of Environmental Services, Facilities Director or his/her designee all defective or damaged fixtures and properties.Ensures safe operation, prescribed care of machinery (maintaining equipment in good operable condition) and judicious use of all detergents, strippers, finishes, and other janitorial supplies.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

No formal education required, only the ability to follow instructions and directions, High School Diploma or GED preferredMust be able to read, write and speak EnglishEnvironmental Services experience is desirable but not essential. Employee can be trained through in-service education.Must know how to use environmental services equipment , chemicals and supplies such as finishes, disinfectants, strippers, battery operated floor machines, cord burnish machines, mops, and other related items.Able to keep assigned areas in a condition complying with corporate standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, and taste or smell.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Works in clean, well-lighted, heated and ventilated building (rooms and corridors). The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside variable weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
