Position Summary

Our Tampa office has an opportunity for an experienced Legal Practice Assistant to join our Labor & Employment practice. The Paralegal researches law, investigates facts, and prepares documents to assist attorneys. Independently researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes to prepare legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals for review, approval, and use by attorney. May manage work assignments for multiple paralegals and/or is a key client contact.

Essential Functions

Researches law, investigates facts, and independently prepares documents to assist attorneys with matters.Summarizes complex legal documentsOrganizes and indexes complex case filesDetermines and calendars deadlinesPerforms wide variety of legal research and data compilation, with little or no supervisionFiles pleadings with court clerkPrepares reports, correspondence, declarations and complaintsDrafts a wide variety of legal documentsPrepares affidavits or documents and maintains document filePrepares for mediations and trialsAssists Attorneys at trialAssists Attorney in preparation for depositionsCommunicates with witnesses and expertsSchedulingEnters billing and expense data into Firm system in a timely mannerCoordinates major projects or cases, some of which may involve the work of multiple paralegalsRequirements

Paralegal certification / degree from accredited college or university12+ years of paralegal experience, preferably working in a labor/employment litigation practiceProficient in all Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; Lexis-Nexis and WestLaw, Live Note, Concordance, Case Map, Docketing, Document Management System, expense and billing systems
