JOB DESCRIPTION
Shift: Possible 2 shifts, day and evening or one person to cover mid-shiftOnsiteIdeally the candidate will be bilingual (English and Spanish)
The Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for promoting the health and well-being of Client employees. This individual will coordinate all Corporate Health and Medical Services processes and activities and will provide leadership on health-related issues for employees, supervisors, and facility leadership teams. This non-supervisory position is responsible for the provision and management of occupational health and wellness services at the plants. Duties include coordinating health initiatives on behalf of employees and contractors, individually, and in partnership with the local medical community when applicable. The incumbent will interact and collaborate with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders to prevent and manage injuries and illnesses and to promote health, wellness, productivity, and safety within the facilities/plants. This will be accomplished by planning, implementing and managing health-related programs, engaging in first aid treatment, and case managing both work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses.The occupational nurse will be accountable to lead successful wellness initiatives and track metrics at the plant. The position also works closely with Disability Case Managers, Workers' Compensation Claims Adjustors, Human Resources Professionals and Environmental Health & Safety Leaders.
Responsibilities1. Live the Safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities.Metrics• Implement a personal safety action plan and review with leader• Work with medical providers in ensuring quality medical treatment for our employees associated withoccupational illnesses/injuries• Partner with plant leadership in driving a zero-injury culture.• Lead the Wellness Pillar in our TPM journey.2. Ensuring compliance with various policies and regulationsMetrics• Schedule/evaluate all pre-placement, medical surveillance, preventative care, health promotion, referrals and fit for duty exams• Provide nursing care to plant employees at Fairburn as needed and make referrals as necessary.• Annual audiometric testing, vision exams, pulmonary function exams and fit testing.3. Ensuring quality care at the right priceMetrics• Clinical management. of facility clinic and administrative management of other occupational health clinics within your designated region• Work closely with Disability Case Manager and Worker's Comp. Adjustor in managing both occupational and non-occupational illness/injury cases along with ensuring prompt but appropriate return to duty• Work with plant leadership, disability, claims adjustor and medical providers in controlling medical costs4. Promoting good health for our employeesMetrics• Champion employee health and wellness initiatives such as Healthy Living and other sponsored events and achieve specified participation levels• Review medical surveillance exam data and conduct follow ups with employees within specified guidelines• Evaluate employee physical conditioning and assess risks associated with using the equipment in the Fitness Center
Job RequirementsExperience:1. BSN is preferred as the basic preparation for entry into professional practice, but three (3) year diploma or two (2) year associate degree is acceptable with RN licensure in the state(s) of practice with five (5) years of occupational health experience.2. Licenses and Certifications: (Required)-Licensed registered Nurse-Certified Occupational Health Nurse (or eligible and willing to take the exam)-Current CAOHC audiometry certification-Current NIOSH approved spirometry trainingKnowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of Occupational Health Nursing science and OSHA regulations and other regulatory requirementsKnowledge of State nurse practice acts, applicable board of pharmacy statutes, and applicable ethical guidelinesCase Management Services:Uses Clinical/nursing/case management skills to help coordinate the employee's individual treatment plan while maximizing cost containment.Serve as intermediary to interpret and educate the employee on his/her disability, and the treatment plan established by physician. Explain Physician's and Therapists instructions and answers any other questions the employee may have to facilitate his/her return to work .Works with Physicians and Therapists to arrange medical assessments to develop an overall treatment plan to ensure cost containment, best medical care while meeting state and other regulatory guidelines.Research and assess alternative treatment programs such as pain clinics, home healthcare, work hardening. Coordinates all aspects of employees enrollment into the programs, and monitors his/her progress, in an effort to maximize cost containment and minimize time away from work.Works with plant leaders, supervisors, union representatives, Safety, and plant physicians to identify and develop transitional / modified duty based on medical limitations and employees functional abilities. Assist in development of transitional work programs when necessary in effort to return employee to work. Participate in Work Transition meetings.May provide expert testimony on litigated cases.Coordinates employees appointments and arranges transportation when necessary.In the event that the employee is unable to return to work with modifications, case manager will coordinate the employee's vocational rehabilitation to prepare them for reentry into the workplace.Administrative Duties:Documenting and reporting all case activity is critical for accurate case management record keeping.Maintain all case documents in employee files ensuring comprehensive and detailed source of information for all parties to the claim.Documents all case activity notes in Cority for each phase of activity as it is completed.Maintains e-mail and phone contact with all parties involved to monitor, update and advance case activity to ensure progress of the case.
