Knowledge, skills, education, and/or experience
Mandatory skills/certification(s) Requirement: •Bachelor's degree in public health, Health Education, Community Health, or a related field. •Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in health education, community outreach, or a related field. •Bilingual: English and Spanish. •Strong communication and interpersonal skills. •Ability to design and deliver effective health education programs. •Excellent organizational and project management skills. •Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Duties/Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities: •Design, develop, promote, and implement health education programs and materials tailored to diverse audiences, including for COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses •Develop partnerships with community organizations, schools, and other partners to reach and engage the public about Respiratory Viruses (COVID-19, flu, RSV). •Facilitate Respiratory Virus education/presentations at community outreach activities and events - minimum 3 events per month •Identify community health education needs and barriers to accessing COVID-19, flu, RSV vaccinations. •Serve as a liaison between OMMH and Community Based Organizations. •Track and respond to all health literacy review requests within OMMH and from other departments. •Evaluate materials based on health literacy and plain language best practices and make recommendations for improvement. •Track and respond to all language translation requests within OMMH and from other departments. •Coordinate centralized language translation services according to any standing language services contract. •Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health education programs. Prepare reports and recommendations based on evaluation findings. •Collect and analyze data to assess program impact and identify areas for improvement. •This position requires occasional evening and weekend work. •Travel to outreach events across New Jersey may be necessary.
Desired skills:
Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or similar certification. •Experience in plain language writing for patient or public facing materials. •Experience working with diverse populations and communities
