Regardless of the circumstances and background that a child comes from, we believe they deserve an opportunity for a good life.Position eligible for $1,500 sign on bonus!The Medical Coordinator assumes a pivotal role within VisionQuest by spearheading the team's approach tonon-clinical health service delivery. The Medical Coordinator duties encompass evaluating, facilitating, andoverseeing all aspects of the unaccompanied children's medical care. Emphasizing disease prevention and healthupkeep, the Medical Coordinator collaborates closely with medical providers to ensure children in our care receive thebest health services available and timely medical intervention.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:•Compliance:o Stay knowledgeable on all related local, State, and Federal policies and procedures regardingmedical coordination and services for Unaccompanied Children under ORR care.o Maintain Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).o Ensure proper maintenance of medical files on each admission.o Ensure proper daily documentation in VisionQuest database and ORR-UC Portal and maintainhard copy of required documents and medical records.o Ensure all documentation including but not limited to medication administration logsmeets VQ, ORR and Licensing policies•Medical Services Coordination & Response:o Ensure timely medical, dental, and other related services are provided to children with localproviders within ORR's and state licensing timelines.o Schedule and provide transportation to children on medical appointments with assistance fromprogram staff, as needed.o Collaborate with health professionals to ensure health and safety standards, includinglicensing, disease reporting, immunizations, injury prevention, and medicationmanagement for out-of-home childcare, along with awareness of community health andmental health resources for children.o May attend medical, dental, and mental health appointments, when applicable and neededto support the medical department or for children with complex medical needs.o Support the medical providers staff during appointments examination procedures whenneeded.o Ability to dispense over-the-counter and prescribed medication to children according toVisionQuest's self-administration of medication policy and procedure.o Immediately respond and comply with individual emergency medical needs of children in care.o Educate and counsel children concerning their disease, treatment, and prevention of disease, as well as informing staff when appropriate.•Collaboration and Communication:o Ensure professional conduct when interacting with stakeholders, building strong partnerships.o Work with other members of the management team to assure successful communication andcoordination between all members, leadership, and corporate personnel.o Attend all departmental and program meetings to ensure that up-to-date information is received and/or information of policy changes or practice are adhered to.•Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.SKILLS & ABILITIES:•Excellent interpersonal communication skills with ability to listen actively.•Commitment to professional development and proactive research.•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.•Excellent writing and technical proficiency.•Proficient in reading, interpreting and applying ORR policies and procedures including ORR'spolicy guide and UAC MAPs.•Organized with attention to detail.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:•High school diploma or equivalent degree•Minimum of 1 year of employment experience working in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting.QUALIFICATIONS:•Must be 21 years of age or older.•Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.•Flexible schedule (evening, weekends, holidays) to facilitate program services.•Cleared tuberculosis test results.•Must be able to pass a drug test.•Must be able to provide proof of required vaccinations.•Cleared background checks from appropriate entities, including Child Abuse and Neglect and FBI criminal background.•Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.•Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible to drive to facilitate program services as required.WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:•May lift and carry up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 50 poundsinfrequently.•Performs tasks that may involve standing or walking 50% of the day; sitting 50%of the day.•May bend, stoop, reach and grasp as necessary.•Must be able to provide First Aid and CPR.•Must be able to perform physical holds as instructed in Crisis Prevention Intervention training(CPI).The pay range for this role is:25.51 - 25.51 USD per hour (888 Steven Rogers Village)
