The Virginia Department of Health Profession's (DHP) mission is to ensure safe and competent patient care by licensing health professionals, enforcing standards of practice, and providing information to health care practitioners and the public.
This position provides primary licensure support for the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) section in the Board ofNursing by reviewing and processing applications for initial approval, renewal, endorsement and reinstatement,ensuring compliance pursuant to applicable laws and regulations. Maintains a high level of customer service andindependently processes applications (exam, endorsement, advanced nurse aide, reinstatements, renewals) andindependently issues licenses (certificates) for all routine Nurse Aide licensure applicants ensuring compliancewith nursing laws/regulations and applicable federal regulations.

Minimum Qualifications
• Experience working within a regulatory office environment.• Considerable knowledge of office procedures and practices, including paper and digital file maintenance isrequired.• Demonstrated ability to organize work and accomplish duties in a timely manner.• Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to draft routine correspondence.• Experience answering incoming calls in a high-volume customer service environment.• Ability to problem solve issues and research relevant documentation to ensure quality service.• Maintain automated and hard copy record keeping.• Knowledge of word processing, database management systems, grammar and punctuation standards.• Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite.• Ability to enter data into a computer system, quickly and efficiently.
Additional Considerations
• Ability to quickly develop a comprehensive knowledge of state laws, regulations andpolicies pertaining to nursing licensing and ability to apply this information in response to customer contacts, via phone or written correspondence.• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
